That’s probably a lot more exciting than 17.6, tbh.
I guess I’m just foolishly hoping that 17.6 will fix a few of the bugs that 17.5 introduced… mainly the terrible audio quality of messages recorded through the Messages app.What should 17.6 put new on the table?
I think they are all in for 18.0 now!
My friends and family won’t be updating to iOS 18 until the fall, so it’ll really suck to go all summer with such awful audio recordings.

Probably only bug fixes.
iOS Classical app accessible via CarPlay. Remember they had it sorta working with 1.2, then the 1.2.1 disabled it. I might be part of iOS 18, but that feature has been stalling for awhile.What should 17.6 put new on the table?

I guess that could happen in 17.6. But, whatever the problems were (and my working assumption has always been that it involved licensing and not software execution), they have not gotten it resolved in 3-4 months. I don’t see that as something they’ll expend a lot of resource for independent of iOS 18.
There’s also the SharePlay on HomePod and Apple TV that appeared very briefly in the 17.4 beta cycle and hasn’t made a reappearance yet.
I think I’m currently the only one expecting iOS and iPadOS 17.6 lol
I know, no new feature expected, but precisely! I like well polished versions of the operating system, so for me, updating on the .5 or .6 version of the OS (especially on those you cannot downgrade such as iOS and iPadOS) has become a tradition.
By the way, if all goes well, today I’m finally installing iPadOS 17.5.1 up from 16.6.1.

We are 12 days and 7 hours away from the wwdc, I guess they will not release anything until the beta release of IOS 18 that day, so let's take advantage of IOS 17.5 which is being very stable and practically without problems.

At this point I suspect it will be next Tuesday (6/4). Or even possibly the Tuesday after the WWDC keynote (6/11). But more likely next Tuesday.

The patch in 17.5.1 seemed a bit rushed and maybe they planned to launch 17.5.1 with more bug fixes in the upcoming weeks… so maybe a broader bug-fix update could come in the form of 17.5.2?
