I forget from all the reading I've done... is the AR/VR headset supposed to be released for sale today? or is it one of those things where they introduce it and say coming like in 6 months or something like that.

I don't think it will be released today. It will be released by the end of this year or early next year (2024). However, we will see the true AR/VR headset along with the software Apple has to offer. I'm tired of seeing the renders.
If we have to be disappointed let it be about those pushing expensive AR/VR headsets otherwise should be ample announcements from WWDC today. Going to be a great day for sure.

It looks like we're expected to see big changes in the Financial Apps in iOS 17.

Im still annoyed that we never got the Twitter widget we saw in previous keynotes. I hope anything related to Twitter is omitted from keynote. Twitter never delivers.
You forgot saying how "super excited" they are
Wish each department head wrote in their own words so they didn't all sound the same/so robotic and so boring at times repeating words "we are so super excited". It would give a bit more personality and flavour of interest through out. I think.
Oh Christ! I forgot about that. God, how many times are we going to have to listen to that god-awful "we are super excited..." or "I am super excited..." crap today?? The word super needs banning from these events.

One thing I’m really hoping for today is that rumored change to the lock screen when using maps. Just yesterday I missed a very important notification while using navigation and didn’t even know about it until hours later as I scrolled through my notifications. There’s so much room for improvement here.
How easy do you think it will be to download the beta today? I seemed to remember an earlier iOS update, was making it harder to do the betas this year.

I expect Beta 1 to be as Beta 1. New features with some bugs to be fixed during the beta testing period and some new features 'coming later this/next year' as always
