Exactly, I’m a part-time freelance graphic designer/digital artist as well, and it kind of bugs me that the icons are just ever so slightly different. Like, why not just make them the same across the board? I guess some people have said it’s likely to do with iOS’s flat UI design, hence flat app icons, but I think the UI can remain flat with the app icons slightly neumorphic. One thing that gives me a bit of hope is that the apps Apple has added to iPadOS over the last year all have a bit of neumorphism to their icons. Examples: Apple Music Classical, Final Cut Pro, Logic Pro. They all have more shadowing and shading than the traditional iOS icons such as Mail. I’m really hoping that they switch to a neumorphic icon set just like the macOS icons, every time I see a mock-up of iOS and iPadOS with those Mac icons I think it looks right. Of course my bigger hope is that they add customizable app icons, though I’m not sure if we’ll see that this year or not. It will be interesting to see, because I think customizable app icons would be the right route to go, it would give those who want something that looks entirely different the option to do so, and it would give me the option to use macOS-style app icons! 👍🏻
+1 graphic designer here, I agree that everything should match each other across the ecosystem. Fingers crossed we get those icons finally 🤞

I highly doubt you'll get multiple users support on iOS... iPhone is a personal device, I don't think too many people are sharing one iphone... you might get multiple user support on iPadOS at some point though.
I’m hoping that if they will add it to iPadOS, they won’t gatekeep it from iOS solely on principle.

My personal edge case (that is fairly common in Europe) is that I’m living in 2 countries and regularly travelling in 3 others. Each of the 5 countries has apps that are locked to the regional App Store - so to get them I have 5 Apple IDs, one for each country. It’s a pain to manage… and I’d love to just login with all of them and forget about it.

Apple TV has some support for multiple users, but it’s infuriatingly incomplete - you can easily switch TV or Music libraries, but not the third-party apps or even iCloud Photos. Only AirPods of the main user connect easily, etc.

I’m interested in seeing what some refinements to Stage Manager in iPadOS 17 might look like, there’s currently a few points I view as weak points to Stage Manager, and most of them are external monitor-related: A. When you click the Control Center button on the external monitor, Control Center opens on the iPad’s display instead of the external monitor where you would expect it to open. B. You can’t open Notification Center with the button, the button is there, but clicking it doesn’t open it on the monitor or the iPad. C. You can’t take advantage of your monitor’s web cam.

Judging from the rumors, I think there’s a pretty good chance of these things being fixed in iPadOS 17. I also want to see some additional refinements such as naming of app window groups, and the ability to save certain app window groups for tasks. This would make Stage Manager a killer productivity system! As it is, I think it’s incredibly useful, but these refinements could make it that much better. 👍🏻

If they don’t include it in iOS, I don’t think it would be due to gatekeeping, but rather the differences between iPadOS and iOS. While they share much in common, even a base system, iPadOS has branched quite a bit from iOS, and different design considerations have to be taken into account due to screen size. If a Multi-User system was implemented on iPadOS similarly to macOS, this could work on the iPad, but would take up far too much of the Lock Screen on iOS. I think it would be nice if they add it to both, and I a hope you get the feature you want, just explaining the reason it could end up being implemented on iPadOS but not iOS.

With the changes to how Apple handles beta profiles, will only registered developers be able to get the beta today? I am assuming some workarounds will be out there, but haven't heard of anything yet.

I want the easy ability to use whatever Icons I choose...that would be better than MacOS icons.

Yea I’m baffled by this as I just got a new MacBook and was shocked to see all the gorgeous Mac icons had been replaced by iPhone icons, not just the design but the shape too. The only difference is that a few of them have a slight shading to appear slightly less flat, that’s it. So after all these years I don’t want the same ugly clip art icons, I want something new and good looking.

"Welcome to WWDC 2023! Not as good as 2022 but pretty darn close!"

You forgot saying how "super excited" they are 🙄

Wish each department head wrote in their own words so they didn't all sound the same/so robotic and so boring at times repeating words "we are so super excited". It would give a bit more personality and flavour of interest through out. I think.
