Why would they make a 17.8 release? We now have iOS 18, I’m guessing they’ll be focusing on iOS 18. 🏻
Ignore. I’m wrong.

...but there are no devices supporting 17 and not supporting 18 also. For devices that don’t support iOS 18 I would guess.

Well you aren't all wrong. iOS sure, all device than can run 17 can run 18. But iPadOS is a different story.I did wonder that as I was typing my previous reply. So in that case, I have no idea to the original question.
iOS 16.7.2 was the last update for iPhone models that can upgrade to iOS 17
Since iPhone models able to run iOS 17 can be upgraded to iOS 18, it's possible that iOS 17.7 is the last update...
It's hard to know if they will. As @winxmac writes, all devices that can run iOS 17 can run iOS 18. There is no point really to keep on patching iOS 17 unless they want to please people that don't want to update.Certainly the last point update. Apple will provide security updates for a while yet though.
Guessing now but isn't the latest supported iOS IPSW always signed if a model supports it?If iOS 17.7 is still available for upgrade/downgrade even after a week of final public release of iOS 18.1, it could mean that Apple is not that confident with the quality of iOS 18.x in general...
Still finding it weird that iOS 18.0 is no longer signed for upgrade/downgrade while iOS 17.7 is still signed for upgrade/downgrade...
There’s still some devices that can’t run 18 that need a polished version 17If iOS 17.7 is still available for upgrade/downgrade even after a week of final public release of iOS 18.1, it could mean that Apple is not that confident with the quality of iOS 18.x in general...

There are iPad models that cannot be upgraded to iPadOS 18 but there are no iPhone models currently running iOS 17 that cannot be upgraded to iOS 18There’s still some devices that can’t run 18 that need a polished version 17
My 1st Gen iPad Pro won't run iPadOS 18, so I'll be quite fine with them releasing more versions of 17.There are iPad models that cannot be upgraded to iPadOS 18 but there are no iPhone models currently running iOS 17 that cannot be upgraded to iOS 18
iPhone XR and iPhone XS are the oldest model that can run iOS 17 and can still upgrade to iOS 18
Sounds like it’s time to upgrade your iPad. 👍🏻. I’d highly recommend the M1 and newer models. If you’re on a budget, the M1 is still a great option: it supports iPadOS 18 and all of the latest features, and offers great performance. 👍🏻My 1st Gen iPad Pro won't run iPadOS 18, so I'll be quite fine with them releasing more versions of 17.

Tell that to my Wife (it's her's) 🤣 She's fine with it and keeps saying she likes it just fine...Sounds like it’s time to upgrade your iPad. 👍🏻. I’d highly recommend the M1 and newer models. Add the A17 pro mini 7 to the list of what to buy.Sounds like it’s time to upgrade your iPad. 👍🏻. I’d highly recommend the M1 and newer models. If you’re on a budget, the M1 is still a great option: it supports iPadOS 18 and all of the latest features, and offers great performance. 👍🏻
The first gen iPad pro (9,7")can't run iPadOS 17, its iPadOS 16 that is the last supported version for that one.My 1st Gen iPad Pro won't run iPadOS 18, so I'll be quite fine with them releasing more versions of 17.
Maybe it's that one. It's the last iPad Pro with the "Button", before Face ID. And again, it's my wife's, and she's okThe first gen iPad pro (9,7")can't run iPadOS 17, its iPadOS 16 that is the last supported version for that one.
2nd gen iPad pro (10,5") are stuck with iPadOS 17 (which is a shame).
It was the same thing last year, there was iOS 17.0.1, 17.0.2, 17.0.3 released and iOS 16 was still updated for all devices.iOS 18.0 and iOS 17.7 are both released on the same day so it does not make sense to keep iOS 17.7 signed while iOS 18.0 is not... Aside from that, all devices running iOS 17.x can upgrade to iOS 18.x while iPhone 8 and iPhone X cannot upgrade to iOS 17.x which makes sense to keep iOS 16.x signed...
