Kinda proves my observation though. Beta releases since last year had been kinda whacky. More betas on Thursdays, iOS 16.6 betas going on a 2 week release cycle this late into the game. At this point everything seems to be a coin toss. Bye bye speculation game.

Warning - I had updates set to Download Only, but this update started immediately without asking me!

Edit: same on macOS!

I don’t disagree with most of your post but Apple is not going to base beta releases on how hot the weather may be in Cupertino. Apple has a schedule to meet and the employees know they need to get it done.
So distributing DB3 seeds via server probably via remote was done a bit earlier shortly after 10AM PST, but as of almost 2 PM PST, there is no web admin posting of SDK notes. Yeah Apple sure lit a fire under a partial crew to be back in full force after this long weekend for them. :p

No guesses on Public Beta release yet? Do we think it'll be early next week, or that the PB won't come until B4?

As much as this thread is titled IOS 17 speculation the first PB is still dependent on the other OS's operation. It's like it will be next week's Monday or Tuesday as a guess. I don't sense anything involving 16.6 effecting its rollout. Those previous OS's comments seem uninteresting after utilizing iOS/IPadOS/tvOS 17 and MacOS Sonoma 14 since June 5th.

The fact that Apple played this game of changing the way they offer dev betas to now only registered users of Apple development this year has confused some of us.

Perhaps the increased number of participants running dev beta 3 currently will make it easier/safer to release the first PB seeding based on DB3 next week hearing no problems of "my device is not working after installing a dev beta".

I don't think it will be as late as a DB4 build IMHO. ;)

Last year the cadence of the Developer preview and public beta was Wednesday/Monday.

Given that the developer preview of iOS 17.0 beta three was released on Wednesday this year as well, I think the public beta will be released on Monday.

Beta 4 next week at some point, then after 2 weeks beta 5 should start the weekly releases? At least that's how past major OS beta schedules have gone.
