iOS 18.0.1 broke Find My for the MagSafe Apple wallet I have on the back of my iPhone 16 Pro…. Find My will not notify me if the wallet is detached more than a minute like it did before the update.

I have not figured out a fix or work around.

Looking at installing this and ditching 18.1b5, if I do that and downgrade will iCloud still give me all my passwords photos etc etc or will I have to start from scratch?
To answer my own question, majority transferred over. However I had to relog into everything (painful when I had almost everything set up with authentication apps) and none of my settings/backgrounds etc would transfer over.

Bruh this 18.0.1 is the worse update

I regret my decision to update. The keyboard is even more lagging, the battery is draining, and my phone is overheating. I never had these issues before updating to 18.0.1.

Is anyone else experiencing these problems with 18.0.1?

What iPhone do you have?

Nope. 16 Pro.

Please check if you can see at the battery menu if the update process is still running in the background.

It finished over night on my 13 Pro Max.

This update is really great. No lags anymore, very fast.
Had it for days after first setup and update of a 16 Pro. Appeared again after 18.0.1 update, but gone overnight on a MagSafe charger. Big change for me after that update, no touch screen issues, better battery life, snappier.

Guys let the update stay on your iPhones for a few days, take a look then for battery life etc.
before it may be indexing in the background, so more heat, more battery drain etc.

I’ve seen people mention it can take up to a week for the update background activity notification to disappear. IMO I think that’s excessive, especially if it occurs after every update. I think Apple should have the phone blast through everything it needs to do on night #1, if plugged in. Just be done with it.

Still having issues with:

- Music app freezing up at times and having to be closed out. It then restarts at the end of the last song that was playing
- Mac won't read photos/videos from iPhone past a certain date and the only way to get those files onto the Mac now is through Airdrop
- Longer videos recorded on iOS 18 still hang up and freeze/take forever to load past a certain point. Only fix so far has been to process the video through Final Cut Pro as a new video

So mostly useless as far as fixing noticeable bugs in my workflow. iPhone 15 Pro for reference. Really should have saved an iOS 17 backup to downgrade with.
Same here with music app. Filed a bug report on iOS 18…..

Also I noticed that my WiFi will randomly stop working on iOS 18.0.1 and I have to turn on airplane mode and turn it off for it to start working.

this problem has been present since iOS 17 for me, sometimes with more or less intensity (I don't have an upstairs so the wi-fi isn't very far from me)

PLEASE, I need people with an A15 device to tell me if battery life is as bad as iAppleBytes test shows. I mean, according to their test, the iPhone 13 gets its worst score ever so… I’m considering if I should stay on 17.7 or go for 18.0.1

It seems to have fixed a bug when some of the app icons in their respective small folders on Home Screen would fail to display, showing white icons with a grey grid instead. Cool.
Not fixed for me. Maybe not for you. Try to update an app that you have in a folder in home screen and tell us if it's happening again. Of course goes away with the restart but when the app updates it's happening again.

When using the dynamic wallpaper on the Lock Screen and matching the Home Screen wallpaper, the Home Screen wallpaper doesn't update when the dynamic wallpaper changes.

Not a new issue, wasn't working in 18.0 either.
Correct

I upgraded my 13 mini. How can I tell if it affected battery life? My battery is at 84% health and generally lasts all day without an issue.

Just by looking at what percentage you have left at the end of the day compared to previous version?

Battery life over all. Downgrade to 17.7 as fast as possible before Apple blocks it.
You should have better stayed on the iOS 15 branch but now it’s too late.
