Battery life over all. Downgrade to 17.7 as fast as possible before Apple blocks it.
You should have better stayed on the iOS 15 branch but now it’s too late.
Why stay on a two year old operating system? I’m fine on iOS 17 but I want to update to 18 when the time is right. That’s why I’m asking to A15 device owners, to elucidate if 18.0.1 is as disastrous as the graph I’ve seen.

It’s still too risky right now. Better wait for 18.1 or better 18.2.
But we don’t know how battery life will be impacted with these versions. There are new features coming. Battery life might even be worse by then.
17.7 is the best bet currently.

I disagree and I think it's bad advice to tell someone to not update to the latest iOS version. Unless you work with very specific edge cases, it will be totally fine. And if you get 20 minutes less battery life (which in my experience with 18.0.1 you won't), well, chargers exist 😉

Well, i'm jumping in here as i've several phones and manage devices in our company as well- just again, it's my personal experience or the experience i got from co-workers- everyone uses their phones differently- mostly for work, with a set of pre-installed Google Apps. Usually it's an all-day mix of calls, videoconferencing, chat and mails.

We have mostly iPhones 16 Plus (on iOS 18 and 18.01), iPhone 15 Plus (on iOS 17.7 and iOS 17.4.1) and iPhone 14 Plus (on IOS 17.4.1 and iOS 17.7).

Right now Users are happy with iOS 18.0.1. I don't get to much complaints about Battery life- but also, those phones are fairly new.

iPhone 15 Plus Users partly complain on 17.7 but it seems better than the Versions before, i get less complaints on 17.4.1.

iPhone 14 Plus Users on iOS 17.7 complain a lot, those who are on 17.4.1 are happy so far- but those devices are "old" now.

Personally, i'm on an iPhone 15 Plus with 17.4.1, Produced in Oct 2023, first Use in January 2024, 86 Cycles and Battery down to 99%. I couldn't be happier with my battery life, i usually travel a lot, spend most of my workday on the phone and still get through 1,5 day.

I think it's really about how you use and charge your device- a colleage with about the same time has over 240 Cycles already and the battery is down to 94%.

My iPhone13mini includes the A15 bionic, and is now running 18.0.1. Battery is showing 93%. I’m seeing nothing detrimental in 18.0.1 in any regard. I updated to 18.0 when it came out and similarly noted nothing untoward from the previous v17.n.n.

So, you’re saying your 13 mini on iOS 18.0.1 lasts the same after a day of use as on 18.0 or even 17.6.1?

If so, I may give it a chance… at least for a week. And see how it goes.

Thank you!

Not exactly. I see I could have stated my post better. Since upgrading to v18.0, I've not experienced any battery issues...not heat, not capacity, not useable length of time. I've been on v18.0 since the day it was available, and yes, only a day on v18.0.1. V18.0.1 did nothing to change that so far, but yes, a longer look will be helpful. Regret any confusion.

Many thanks!

I’m gonna pull the trigger and make a clean install of 18.0.1, and as soon as I experience any battery issues, I’ll go back to 17.7

iOS 18.0.1 was released on 3rd Oct 2024 so iOS 17.7 and iOS 18.0 downgrade will most likely be disabled on 10th Oct 2024

On my iPhone 13 Pro, from iOS 17.6 upgrading to iOS 18.0, I went back and downgraded to iOS 17.7 while it is currently still signed

I can also confirm that my partner's iPhone 13 Mini is running equally well on iOS 18.0.1 as it was on 17.6.1 (he never installed 18.0). No reduced battery life nor is he experiencing any issues.

Just by looking at what percentage you have left at the end of the day compared to previous version?
Based on the anecdotal evidence of first day of use looks like battery life improved with 18.0.1 compared to 18.0 and 17.6.

After a reboot IOS 18.01 logged me out of some apps!, at least and including Youtube and Plex, killed them and retried, same. Waited 5 minutes and seems fine... Beware...
Plus I notice that apps have to reload A LOT compared to IOS 18. Using 15 Pro Max. Memory leaking solved?, it is terrible the "solution", now everything reloads!. I am using just Spotify, mail, Appstore and Whatsapp at the same time and ALL have to reload!.

11 Pro Max is running smoothly compared to 18.0 but battery life is worse. Anyone else?

89% battery health.

I have an iPhone 13 mini and iOS 18.0.01 has broken FaceID. Can anyone point me to a link please on how to restore iOS 18.0.0 ?
EDIT: I got it working. If anyone else has this issue, then you need to remove your FaceID profiles, then restart the phone, then setup FaceID again, in that order

Odd. We have two iPhone13minis and both upgraded to v18.0.1 without incident. Neither iPhone required any FaceID profile changes.

This is cool! My statusbar got hidden. Pulling down NC, and closing it, brings it backnfor just a second. Then, gone again 🤣
