iOS 18.1 Beta 3 ― Bug Fixes, Changes, and Improvements

I had too many cellular reception issues with 18.1 B2 on my 15 PM. Here’s hoping B3 is better in both cellular reception and battery life. My battery is still at 97% health so it’s reasonable to expect 1.5 days battery life which I did get on iOS 17

Clean up is awesome. I took this picture of Aaron Judge next to Jose Altuve at a Yankee game a couple months ago. I deleted Altuve lol

I just tried this, and it does a very good job of erasing content from a photo.

It’s definitely dependent on the photo. For example, trying to remove the crowd in the background if a photo results in extremely noticeable artifacts. This makes sense because the model has limited information on the background to draw from since a large portion is blocked. What it could do better is associate it when the landmark is recognized and draw from other photos, but that is harder when the model is on device.

Agreed. B2 was one of the worst beta experiences I've had in a very long time.

Clean Up is taking a long time to download, but that might be because I'm not on wifi.

CONFIRMED: Needed to be on WiFi for it to download.

Asked for wifi upon boot up, work wifi doesn't allow personal devices. Data is showing 'E', haven't seen that before.

Just Google Fi things.

Edit: Phone figured out 5G and everything seems normal now. Excited to see summaries in action system-wide.

Shared albums is still broken.

When I installed b2, it only showed 3 of my 2 dozen or so shared albums, and those albums are empty.

Creating a new one on the iPhone does not show up on the Mac, and vice versa. Sending an invite from the phone, it never arrives.

All activity and sending invites on the Mac works.

Edit: I toggled shared albums on and off and slapped my phone on the charger. One of the recent albums appeared, but it might be the one I made as a test on b2. :/

For those that are having trouble with Cleanup, force quit Photos and reopen. It will then change to Preparing then work as normal

Should be fine, like 18.1 Beta 2 had some lags and I have been getting frequent restarts - but with the new build having all the bug fixes form betas 7 and 8, I expect that nothing major should be broken.

That Calculator app bug is still here… it always shows the most recent entry, regardless of the entry being cleared prior to opening the app

Not sure whats going on with this bug.. its not always the most recent entry. sometimes its several entries ago that gets stuck. not sure how to get it to open blank/zero.

When I open a hidden photo or swipe through hidden photo’s on iPadOS, the app is crashing. It seems to work flawlessly on my 15Pro Max. Is anyone else experiencing this issue? Feedback sent already

I think it is a feature not a bug that it opens to the last result rather than zero. But opening to something several calculations ago: no.

Two things i’ve noticed is the edge to tab bar that is in Home and App Store now shows in Music on the iPad and I’m unsure if this is new but there seems to be a Movies & TV shows options but it doesn’t show anything except browse Apple Music.

Just tried on my 11" iPad Pro M4 and it doesn't crash.

Hmmmm….thanks for checking. I just did it on my 11” IPP M4 and it works perfectly also.
