Additional Notes

To get the beta over-the-air:
  1. Enable Beta Updates (Settings > General > Software Updates > Beta Updates)
  2. Make sure you’re signed into the right Apple Account
  3. Select which beta you’d like to receive (public/developer beta)
  4. Hit "Back" and pull down to refresh
  5. Back up to a computer or to iCloud
  6. Install the beta
If you no longer wish to receive beta updates:
  1. Turn off the Beta Updates (you can also sign out of your Apple Account to reset this setting)
  2. Wait for the next public release or follow the guide below to go back to a release build
Troubleshooting: If the beta doesn’t show up on your phone, try turning on airplane mode, then turning it back off, or restart your device.

How to install using a Mac?
  1. You’ll need the Xcode beta itself or a MobileDevice.pkg somebody extracted from the beta (click with two fingers or control-click), then choose Show Package Contents. Go to Contents/Resources/Packages. - this will work on older Macs that do not support the latest macOS or Xcode betas)
  2. Back up to your Mac or to iCloud in case you need to go back to another version
  3. Hold down Option, then click on ‘Check for Update’/‘Restore iPhone...’ and select the IPSW file you downloaded from the Apple Developer site. Note: You must be connected to the internet to complete the restore.
  4. Enter your iPhone passcode if you’re prompted to do so.
Notes/Tips:
  • Always keep a backup in case you need to restore your phone
  • Restoring wipes your settings and all data on your iPhone
  • You only need to reinstall MobileDevice.pkg if your Mac stops recognizing your iPhone
  • There is no MobileDevice.pkg equivalent to iTunes for PC which would require a new iTunes to support new/beta iOS
  • Upgrading to a newer iPhone? You can update using your Mac before setting up the phone

Historical beta release chart

Model firmware in iOS 18.1 for iPhone 14 is 3.10.03, but the model firmware showing for iOS 18.2 is 3.02.03. Thus the model firmware for iOS 18.2 is older than iOS 18.1.
Why is it so?

Am I wrong in thinking that 18.2 was supposed to make Apple AI available outside of USA?
I thought I read in the notes this would make it useable if language, region etc. was set to UK English or Ireland?

I updated a couple of days ago to the public beta and still says not supported in my region 🤔

I would love to know this as well. No point installing this beta if most of the features still don’t work.

Put slider at 100
Can you please explain to me how this works. For instance, if I set limit charge to 80%, how it will work?
If I set it to 100%, it says that keeping charge limit bellow 100%, it helps to preserve long time life health. So, what is preferable?

I’ve noticed that my 16 PM is getting really hot during charging, but it’s happening in a strange and random way. Sometimes it gets super hot, and other times it doesn’t even heat up at all. Has anyone else experienced this issue?
Also getting this issue. Two nights in a row it has failed to charge due to heat. 15 PM in an Apple silicon case using an Apple MagSafe Duo Charger.

If you put the charge limit under 100% it could preserve your battery. But it only makes sense if you don’t need that much battery over the day.
If you know you need every ounce of battery then I would suggest go with 100% charge limit and with optimized battery and charge it over night. That’s what I am doing.

And for your information if you set it to charge limit 80% for example it stops charging when it reaches 80% battery life - if it stays charging it just stops charging, so you don’t have to worry about charging the whole time.
Nevertheless sometimes it will charge to 100% because of calibration of the battery.

Hope this answers your questions?

I think this is new. If you’re using maps for driving directions and you’re close to your destination, it gives you an option to switch to walking for the rest of the route.

It seems odd that we are testing a beta version of 18.2 and have to be on a waiting list for its features, like Genmoji and playground.

I just realized, in the first beta swiping tabs away was very buggy. It seems to be fixed. It’s probably been mentioned here already, but I honestly don’t feel like back-reading 12 pages lol.

Works fine in Australia with region set to Australia, and device language and Siri language set to English (Australia)

Again, the question is: where are you located? If in the UK (not the EU), you’ll see it in this beta and the public will get it next month. If you are in Ireland (EU), you won’t see it til April 2025.

I only upgraded since T-Mobile gave me $1,000 for trading in my 15PM. 🤯
Heya I seen that there are new Black Friday deals pushed out for T-Mobile; I saw that there are lots of promotions for the iPhone 15 pro; any suggestions on what to take? I saw that they have up to $415 off if you trade in an iPhone 11 or XR for the 15 pro, join the GO5G plus plan. I think it requires monthly payments for two years, the go5g next requires yearly upgrade like iPhone upgrade program so I cannot try it out.

I seen that since the iOS 18 initial betas during the summer. It is useful if you have to get to certain places that have no driveways or parking on site like university campus, waterfront beach houses and downtown restaurants.

As I have to scramble for free parking to visit a busy and bustling downtown area every few months I find this feature useful.
