Honestly, if I were you and was having as many issues as you are, I’d restore my iPhone with iOS 18.2 the day it’s officially released (December 9th or 10th), and install your apps one by one. If you think it may take you time, you can do it during the weekend.

I made a clean install of iOS 18.1 and I’m not having any of the issues you mention. Actually, it runs great and smoothly and efficiently on my iPhone SE3
It started doing the keyboard thing quite a bit last night. Got fed up and restored it back down to 18.1.1. It will be a while before I get it set back up how it was before, but so far no keyboard glitches. We'll see about the home screen apps. I think no more betas for me. I think the betas might introduce problems that then aren't necessarily solved by updating to the public release. Whereas maybe staying public to public might keep the issues away.

I said the same thing, but after a few weeks of 18.1.1 I’m waiting for the 18.2RC to come out.
All was fine until 8-10 days after 18.1.1 then it’s gone downhill with the exception of battery life. Laggy keyboard, being logged out of most websites numerous times daily, etc.
I’m following this thread closely and anxiously awaiting…but I have 18.2 beta 4 on my 15PM and all is good (fixed one problem with mail) with the exception of battery life which is “okay”.

I did a backup of 18.2, so worst case if this starts to go downhill, I'll go back to that I guess. Unfortunately 18.2 didn't seem to fix any ongoing issue I had since the 18.0 PBs.

Weirdly enough I haven't had much of any keyboard lagging complaints like so many others. Just that my keyboard would disappear entirely although it could still type, just blindly.

I installed this beta on my 16 Pro Max when it first landed and I must say, this is the best version of iOS I have had on an iPhone since iOS 16 (which I found pretty good).

I'm hoping this is a sign of things to come for Apple. It feels so nice to not have any of those niggly little bugs. My phone just works. I take an awful lot of photos and videos and it's doing a stellar job at processing them, sharing them and backing them up to iCloud. The battery only goes down when I'm pushing the phone really hard, taking like 100 pics in a short time. I kind of expect that so it's okay.

If there didn't happen to be an RC for this version of iOS I would be ok with that. It's the best beta build I've had the joy to use in memory 👍🏻

I learned a bit back that my beta test device needed to be a bit on the light side instead of heavy.
Have you tried doing an OS reinstall via ipsw?

Yes, spell and grammar correction in iOS still sucks.

Agreed! It is this bit of crApple’s software that makes me question whether the top brass actually do use their own software.

So many of us here have mentioned just how genuinely awful it is, and it has got worse over the last 3 years. I don’t understand what they are playing at!!

I can’t disagree here. The auto “correct” after the fact is the most annoying thing for me. I’ll type something, move on and then miss that iOS changed some words based on what it thinks it should be, frequently inserting some bizarro proper personal name. I spend more time fixing things it changed than it took me to type it in the first place. And then I miss some and have to edit later. They need to apply all this fancy AI stuff to the unsexy nuts and bolts that can make or break the UI quality on these devices.

And don’t forget the random capitalisation of words here and there.

Looking at the functionality of spell/grammar/transcription in iOS I wonder if adding AI will be a help or a hindrance. Unless it is a complete replace. ;)

I started experiencing this issue recently - my music library would not load unless I force close the app.

Darn. So not general public release of iOS 18.2 today? Was kinda hoping today would be the day....

Along with testing iOS 18.2, I am also testing a Pixel 9 Pro Fold. It is surprising how poor Apple’s transcription function is when I compare the two devices. This is especially true when it comes to professional, business, and local terms.

That's a HUGE wish I have, that Apple would allow OpenAI to take care of stuff like this. The transcription ability of OpenAI is so so so so so good =)

At least give us the option?! =)

This build somehow messed up my move streak of more than 2100 days.
Checkout the November 30th and December 1st streaks.

I sometimes forget to activate a workout on my watch and then add it manually through the health app on the phone. Just search for workouts on the browse tab, then click the + button at the top. The exercise minutes are pulled from the start and end time of whatever you enter. It might close the gap. I've also had issues like that with prior builds when I've crossed time zones.

My send button in messages has been getting stuck where it won’t work. I’ve also been noticing the vibrate/taptic engine making weird clicking noises when it goes off.

On

Can you confirm if the touch sensitivity on the iPhone 16 Pro Max has improved with iOS 18.2 Beta? Specifically, is it more usable now compared to 18.1.1?

I have had no issues with touch sensitivity so I can’t provide you with an answer.

Ditto with my 15PM 18.2 B4.

Note - I use the Double Tap on the iPhone back for screen shots which then go to photos automatically & some folks might not know about this feature. Settings, Accessibility, Touch, Back Tap on, Double Tap, Screenshot.

This may be useful for some. Tks

Omg I have same issue when message button get stuck that serval attempts so fustrsting
best beta since iphone 16 release... great performance / battery. Only issue and it's always been an issue is auto corrrect. always messes my texts up.
My autocorrect feature on iOS 18.1.1 is malfunctioning and constantly messes up my messages. It even spells my name incorrectly. The Apple keyboard has been problematic since iOS 17. Once the 18.2 release candidate is available, I'll reset the keyboard and see if that improves the situation.

This bug is so frustrating, even when you’re using the correct word or phrase it’ll correct it to something random.
