I have been frustrated with the mail app badge count never being correct, nor updating. Today I may have figured out how to fixed it. Since apple added categories, which I don’t care for and have turned off, it has not worked. Go to SETTINGS, NOTIFICATIONS, MAIL, CUSTOMIZE NOTIFICATIONS AT THE BOTTOM OF SCREEN, and my settings had only the “unread message in primary” checked off. I changed that to “All unread messages” and it works perfectly so far.

I've simply disabled all badges for Mail. Way too many unimportant emails for each of them to result in a notification/badge, in my case at least.

Bug on iPadOS18.2. I have the app icons to automatically change to light/dark mode depending on the time of day. The Numbers app icon didn’t change to the light mode version this morning, all others did. I then tried to manually toggle to dark mode and then back to light mode in the Control Centre and the icon did then turn to the light version when I put it back into light mode, but only briefly for a second or so before turning back to the dark mode version. No biggy of course, I’m just mentioning it as I’d noticed and it worked in 18.1. (Though it could be an issue with the app update rather than the iPadOS update, as I did update the app to the latest version yesterday.)

Couple of things have come up this weekend.

1. Had the keyboard in messages 90degrees out. KB was landscape while Messages was portrait.
2. Watching video on my iPad Pro 11 M4 and randomly the AirPods Pro 2 would lose the low/high making it sound flat.

18.2 made the camera/photo bug more frequent, where the camera freezes when taking pics and then photos taken after freeze will not have photographic style option available.

When I take a picture and change depth to, let's say, f1.4, and than take another with depth to f16, when I go to the photo gallery, swipe up each one of the photos, I see that ISO, EV and F are the same, e.g., the photos are mostly the same regarding field depth.
What am I missing?

Well to my understanding they fake the depth of field/aperture I guess, I don’t think they have actual blades in the tiny lens? You can go in to edit and change the aperture even, digitally. So, the photo you take only have one fixed ”real” aperture, as stated in the photo info. And for iso and shutter speed, can differ slightly but depends on conditions between the photos.

All good on 11Pro. No AI stuff so phone works correctly 🤣 even Mail app is all good.

Battery seems to be more flat - so less drain in idle.

18.2, like all X.2 versions for me, is being a real disaster for the battery health. With 154 cycles it went from 100% to 99%, and with 159 it went down to 98%. I know it's a value that shouldn't be paid much attention to, but it's still curious how it calculates it haha

Disaster for battery health...from 100 to 98%? Were you truly expecting to still have 100% battery health with 154 cycles? o_O

Is this supposed to be Siri “with contextual awareness” or is that not coming until 18.3? I asked Siri when my next meeting is (which she answered), and then asked her if I have any meetings after that…

I don't think it's normal that it can handle 154 cycles at 100%, and only 5 cycles at 99%. This is what I consider a disaster, the incoherence in the descent. Maybe it should have gone down to 99% earlier, surely it should have, but I think Apple has been with this for enough years to have refined the algorithm enough to not make so many swings in something that they take into account to determine if a battery is defective or not.

And by the way, the disaster of the enlarged dynamic island on the iPhone 15 pro continues if you minimize a call there. It still has a lot of wasted black space, something that does not happen for example if I minimize the player, where I see the cover and balancer and I still see the clock and the network icons. I do not understand how anyone thought this was a good idea, and more so when it was not like that to begin with and they have worsened this feature. The dynamic island is little used, and Apple seems to want it to be used even less haha
