Reporters reach out to companies days before publishing articles involving security issues.
I noticed on the RC1, it was running index for a LONG time .. as a matter of fact, I don't think it finished before I installed RC2 earlier todayFound beta 4 to be better with battery than RC1, hopefully RC2 works out better for anyone who had issues as well.
I'm curious as well!What reports?
Not the Apple’s way.Does not have to be serious. The releases are not fixed to a date usually but they have calendar week. The release should still happen this week. Considering the importance of the features in iOS 18.2, Apple wants to push as much fixes as possible to the release to avoid any backlash. Another release candidate is probably released to test the build if it causes any bricks, major crashes that could have been introduced with the latest changes. So it does not have to imply a serious bug fix but it implies they want to avoid any major problems even a small last minute change might introduce.
I'm writing as a software developer working in a very challenging industry. We also have a lot of releases and last minute hot fixes we introduce in the release week. These last minute changes must be thoroughly tested before the release with an extra care. That's what the RC 2 is all about.
Well, what is the Apple's way then? Bug fix X.x.1 releases are even more difficult to test since they are not released to beta testers, and taking more effort for verification than fixing a build that has not even been released. And of course almost the entire company will be on vacation in 2 weeks (at least all the development completely stops at my company for 2 weeks during Christmas). Not the Apple’s way.
There’s usually .x.1 releases for bug fixes. RC2s are usually for bugs that need immediate fix and not polishing the build.
EDIT: RC2s for other OS as well says it’s something at the core and affects all of them.
Did another Hard Reboot and was finally able to delete two apps. But I'm still unable to get any web page to display at all, unable to connect to App Store, but I AM getting texts. I tried downloading today's IPSW file and reinstalled iPadOS, and I'm seeing now change. Pretty bogus.Updated my 2018 iPad Pro to RC2 and now I'm unable to veto get it to connect to the internet at all. I'm also unable to delete some apps! The option to remove is just not there at all, but not all! Hard reboot hasn't helped.... Great!
X.x.1 bug fixes are highly specific and doesn’t involve messing around with the whole system but just the dependencies.Well, what is the Apple's way then? Bug fix X.x.1 releases are even more difficult to test since they are not released to beta testers, and taking more effort for verification than fixing a build that has not even been released.
What I wanted to say is assuming there was a major bug in RC1 and being glad not installing the RC1 or assuming 18.2 release is on fire and delayed are all non-sense to me.
Only one not updated to RC2 is Apple Watch.Currently, there‘s only an RC2 for iOS, right? Non of the other OS like watchOS, tvOS or MacOS, or is there?
Well that’s not really news, most people on forums like this have known since 18.0.It's not hacking though, it's just the version of RCS not having end to end encryption right?
FBI just finally playing catch up. Coverage is a joke. Forbes predicting the end of green bubbles.Well that’s not really news, most people on forums like this have known since 18.0.
Has it been reported more by msm in the US lately?
