Mail app is working ok for me so far, but one thing that annoys me greatly with the new mail sort feature is that there's no way to filter by flagged/unread in any of the categories except Primary. A very odd choice...

I also checked and I don't.

I think one of the theories brought up in that thread could be what it is: various tolerance levels from different manufacturers could explain the differences between phones. In regular shooting mode you don't notice because software touches up everything and it looks fine, no matter if your camera is a bit off. But in ProRAW, maybe they removed a layer of retouching/intelligence starting with iOS 18, and you notice.

Try asking one of the authors of Halide, @sdw on X, if he noticed anything. Of all the iPhone experts out there, he should know.

Mail is still screwed.

Mail still broken for me. Opening a notification just takes me to the main inbox and freezes. After almost 10 seconds, it finally lets me click on the email to read it. The expected behavior is tapping the notification and it goes straight to the email itself, not the inbox.

Also, some emails get stuck on downloading when replying to it. 16 PM.

Mail has been unusable.

It’s good we now have on-device categorisation and Apple “Intelligence”; yet we still can’t fetch mails properly. 😂

To everyone having mail issues: what email provider are you using? And have you ever tried completely removing all your email accounts and adding them back?

I'm asking because one of the things I've never had issues with on iOS 18 (none of the beta or final builds) is Mail. I'm not saying your problems don't exist, at all, but I think there might be something stuck carried over from some old configuration which could be solved that way.

Also, are you using iCloud private relay? Did you try disabling that? Any third party DNS provider, VPN or anything?

Ok thanks. I’ve been trying Obscura camera and using manual focus… the detail is awesome from that app with my Desert titanium iPhone with the focus / IQ issue. I do think that ProRAW refinement is off on the default camera. I usually use third party apps anyway.

I have a weird thought-- what if on the stock camera app, it's bugging out and silently switching lenses for some reason? Maybe you think you're taking photos with the default camera, but it's actually switching internally to using the wide-angle lens and cropping in instead? I only wonder about that because the Apple camera does this already with the telephoto lens depending on the lighting conditions and a lot of the time there's no way to know until you go and check the lens info in the image file metadata.

So, I tried resetting Network Settings and also tried rebooting my Modem. In WiFi Settings on the iPad it keeps fluctuating from showing “Privacy Warning” on the Checked SSID to”No Internet Connection”. I’m also not seeing the WiFi icon in the top bar. I’ve tried enabling/disabling airplane mode.

All of this just started happening after today’s RC2. RC1 has been totally fine.
Not seeing any of these issues on my 16 PM after the install of RC2 (via IPSW)

Private relay is on for me. I do have vpn installed, but I only use it when necessary. I’ve removed all mail accounts, added them back, deleted mail, reinstalled it, same thing. It doesn’t matter if it’s exchange, outlook, or iCloud, all three freeze up.

This, I turned Private relay off and nothing changed, no VPN, and have removed and added accounts. The crazy thing for me is that it works on my wifi at home and always on cellular, but as soon as I connect to wifi at work it stops connecting and downloading messages. It also drains the battery like crazy.

If anything, I was having network issues on RC1. Anything short of a totally perfect “in the same room” WiFi connection or 3+ bars of 5Guw and my 16 Pro was throwing up all over the place.

It seems like whatever was happening with cellular signal switching and WiFi handling is fixed for me. (I also install system updates via Finder/IPSW.)

So… still no reply regarding the issue with the ProRAW camera & image quality. I’m sure the issues currently being discussed are important, but so is the camera when using ProRAW. Aren’t you beta testers supposed to be checking this??

There are a number of us but give some time to get a response. Testing RAW is on my list but not at the top.

That said, I did some quick testing on my 15PM and it appears, more checking later today, that RAW/ProRAW has issues.

This was a shot of my iPAD Pro 11 M4 screen in Pro Raw Max. Sharp focus is hit or miss. Color is also off.

Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes, and Yes. With and without PR and PMA. Even tried deleting the app and adding it back in. With and without a different Mail default. Reloaded ipsw. Removed and added accounts back in. PR on/off. With and without Proton VPN.

Tried it with:
1. Exchange, GMail, iCloud
2. Exchange, iCloud
3. Gmail x2, iCloud

All show issues that varies. Latest test with RC2 was #3.

My current badge issue went away during 18.2 betas but is now back. Earlier I was missing emails compared to my MBP but that was fixed. It is frustrating.

Wait, but could it maybe be an issue with the wifi at work then? As that seems a very specific issue.

Can you try opening a VPN when at work to see if it starts working?

Are there still notification delays with AI turned on?
Yep. My Messages & Mail notifications still come in late.

Messages notifications are only delayed about 5 seconds (I see the badge immediately show up on the Messages app, then the banner appears 5 seconds later).

Mail notifications are a solid 10-20 seconds delayed.

My gmail account was working with mail fine, but I noticed the change once Apple intelligence came into play (not sure if that is the primary issue). I don't use private relay, VPN or anything else. I have removed the account, re-added it, deleted the mail app and reinstalled. As some have noted, if I restart the phone it will auto pull everything, but after it gets stuck on "connecting..." and eventually will show up, but it isn't working like it used to

Delayed notifications (with AI summaries) seems to be finally fixed. I used my authenticator app this morning to log into work and the push notification on my phone came through instantly for the first time since 18.0.

Also seems to have fixed the issue on the 16PM where unlocking the phone from AOD would cause the screen to glitch randomly.

Can’t seem to remove cam and torch from my lock screen anymore, anyone else have this problem too?
I had an "open app" shortcut there, which stopped working after this beta. Couldn't edit it either.

I forgot about the issue until this morning after rebooting my phone, and it's working fine now.

Well I have been working directly with our IT, and they feel it's iOS. I will try the VPN and see what happens. Thanks
