I should have rephrased this. I have a 16 pro max that stutters, inconsistent BT functionality, horrible battery life and many other UI issues. But hey I can sketch now and some random iranian can no longer hack into my stock email app that i dont use.

iOS and iPadOS 18.4 seems to have broken the sounds and haptics attached to my mail notifications in the mail app (for both my iCloud and exchange accounts). The notifications still push and the screen turns on, but I receive no sound alerts. Anyone else encounter this issue after updating?

Had it before and still have this issue but not just mail. A host of other Apps are the same.

Go to Mail (In Apps) - Notifications then swipe down completely to Customize Notifications and check there if all accounts have Alerts , Sounds & Badges turned on.
One of mine had been turned off. OTOH , my custom email sound got much lower. No idea why…

Thanks but already been there. All settings are correct. It's incredibly frustrating! No sound or haptics and for other Apps as well. And yet some are fine (X etc).

15 ProMax
Notifications
Notifications, especially Mail, sometimes I get detail while others just say “Notification”.
Summaries are still messed up.

Mail
Badges are sort of good. Home Screen matches total Inbox when app is opened. However when I do a manual refresh the numbers change, then change back. After a couple of refreshes they no longer change.

FindMy
Using a much greater then normal amount of battery.
Having issues with both AirTags. Removed and added back in. One indicates low battery even with a new battery installed.

Like normal, moving widgets for exact placement is still a mess.
Spell check is still busted (getting a lot of changes from a word to people’s names).

Hoping 18.5 b1 comes soon.

Definitely played around with all those options. In fact, I wasn’t getting any badge alerts at all when “primary inbox” notification settings were off (even though I turned off mail categorization). When primary inbox and all of my email accounts have their notification sounds and alerts turned on, the badge alerts appear but the sounds (in iOS and iPadOS) and vibration (on iPhone) is broke. My Messages alerts seem fine. At least it seems like others are having notification difficulties.

Hi friends, how are you? I'm tempted to upgrade to 18.4. I'm currently on 17.7.2, and it's very stable for me. Is it worth the risk, or should I wait a few days to hear what other people here think? Thanks in advance! 👍🏻👍🏻💪🏻💪🏻

It will be fine. It’s out to the public. Sure there could be a bug or two… but you could say that with anything in life!

Just now , sent myself an email from Mac and sounds work for both iPhone and iPad .

I’ve updated my iPhone and iPad to 18.4 today, from 18.3.

Mail notifications worked fine on both devices on 18.3 - sounds and lock screen.

In 18.4: the devices are locked, I get the notification sound, but the screen doesn’t light up and notifications don’t show on the lock screen - they’ve gone straight to ‘Notification Centre’ and I have to swipe up on the screen to see them. This is on both devices. Expected behaviour is for them to show on the lock screen initially, moving to Notification Centre once I unlock and use the device (assuming I’ve not interacted with the notifications or the Mail app before locking the device again).

All settings are correct.

The smoothness of Notification Centre has also gone. It’s a bit stuttery/jittery.

I just updated iPad mini, iPad Pro, iPhone 14, all went smoothly. Battery is also solid, flat during the night. I updated all of them using ipsw file.

As reported a few pages back, I am part of the group that does not get any audible alerts on my phone for emails. Works fine on my watch and mac. All settings are 100% correct, including the customize options. I reported this back in September, which Apple acknowledged. That said, I have other iPhone users on my account who all have the same issue. Curious if this could potentially be a carrier thing given the randomness of who it works for and doesn’t work for? Perhaps something to do with intelligence settings? There doesn’t seem to be any rhyme or reason.
Also, text message alerts are also random. Sometimes light up the screen and/or alert, other times I get nothing.

I now always get the second medications reminder 30 minutes after the first reminder, even if I mark the medication as taken beforehand. This is not how it’s supposed to work. The second reminder is only supposed to go off it the medication was not marked as taken.
