Thank you! Yes, I do enjoy the feature as well, but it's not worth the battery life.

I was able to access my MacBook Pro and stop mirroring my phone, so it no longer appears in the settings. However, I'm not sure if that worked because I've still noticed idle battery drain, which seems almost the same as before. Maybe I need to remove it from the actual phone the way you did.
I don't think it causes any kind of actual drain unless you're actively mirroring. Haven't noticed any increase in idle drain on my phone.

You might be right, but I noticed that after disconnecting everything for the last hour, it has become much more stable. It makes sense to me that the phone constantly checks for a connection to the Mac. Plus it's pushing notifications from the phone.

It uses Bluetooth LE to keep the connection active which shouldn't cause any drain just like how your AirTags or AirPods are always connected with no noticeable drain.

I can't say if too many notifications would have any impact but shouldn't in any other case.

It’s possible that there’s an issue with iOS 18 causing this battery drain. If the device isn’t disconnecting properly after use because of an issue with iOS 18, it could lead to unexpected battery consumption.

Does anyone think that not charging overnight affects battery drain? I rarely charge overnight unless there's an update to download. I have the limit set to 95% because I need every bit of that battery to last most of the day.

Charge it overnight and you’ll have no battery drain. Charging overnight sitting at 100% isn’t good for battery health, but using the charge limit will mitigate that potential problem. Or use optimised charging.

Yeah I have my limit set to 95, so I could charge all night. I usually do that on the weekends.

Strangely my battery life of my 15 PM is kinda bad again…
Yep mine is back to being not great today. Never was outstanding, but today it't been poor. Looks like photos is creeping back up on the battery list. Not sure why.

I am having issues with photos sending in iMessage as well, so I am downloading 18.1 beta on an old iPhone to see if that fixes it. May be moving that direction if it does. Maybe the battery is fixed as well.

Posted this elsewhere but I'm having a fairly weird issue with my iPad Air (M1) since updating to the 18.1 beta. Somewhat randomly when using Safari the processor starts to heat up to the point where the iPad is warm to the touch, battery starts rapidly draining and it will not stop until I quit Safari. I've noticed it more on sites that use location and live updating websites (Sofascore seems to do it a lot).
I've tried resetting the cache and history multiple times, hard restarting the iPad, turning off Apple Intelligence and using a different browser (Chrome, still does it). I'm really not sure what is causing this issue but it seems to be confined to web browsing only. It's not doing it in games and streaming Plex so I don't believe it to be a processor issue. Hoping for some suggestions besides reinstalling the entire OS as it's absolutely cooking the iPad which can't be good longterm.

It would be so helpful to have an Activity Monitor on iOS/iPadOS…

18.0.1 - it was the best battery life I’ve got so far, until today
Having the same issue on 17.7. It has been great until 3 days ago, now I have to charge it at 4PM. Something is clearly not right on Apple’s server side and it’s triggering some background processing.

The iPhone 16 Plus is running flawlessly on iOS 18.1 beta 6. With everything enabled, there’s no need to worry about finding an outlet or renting a power bank — it just keeps going.

Today only 15 minutes and 6% are gone. I tell you the same story. Charging to 80% is messing up software imo. iPhone can’t handle battery same way as when it charges to 100%.
Yes today I made a two phones but using wifi calling and really good WiFi. So it should be like that
Anyway. My iPhone 16 pro can get to 6,5 h or a bit above 7h sot. Is that good or not? Well I think 7h is completely fine but still I am not that sure

I’ve been wondering the same thing about the charging limit and its impact. The issue started for me with my older iPhone when the release candidate of iOS 18 came out.

Clearly, something isn’t right on Apple’s end. The idle battery drain is excessive. This morning, I unplugged my phone at 9 a.m., and it held at 95% (my charging limit) for only 20 minutes before starting to drop rapidly. Every five minutes, I lost a percentage until I finally picked it up to use it. Now it seems to have stabilized a bit, but I’m really puzzled by this behavior.

71% left and I’ve been using my phone a fair amount today so far. I love this phone!

I guess it is Pro Max.

Your drainage is quite high. What about background activity? If you have at least one AirTag you can’t stop draining unfortunately

Background activity is turned off. So having an AirTag drains the battery? Never had this issue until iOS 18.

So, StandBy counts as screen active time/SOT?

Sorry if this has been up before. I guess it’s logical, the screen is active, but don’t think this should count. It messes the real screen on time in battery settings. Changes the interpretation of Screen active time, have to reduce the whole night…

It’s listed as Home & Lock Screen in Battery usage.

iPhone 13 Pro Max. But already with %83 battery health. It’s much lower than before.

Instagram is a real battery drainer. So many background activities even if I have disabled background refresh. And people say swiping them in the app switcher wouldn’t help the battery life. But it does indeed.

Something is wrong here. Unless your screen was active/turned on all the time. Don’t know why. Maybe some sucked notification or some video playback.
Beside we shouldn’t count minutes and hours during charging to sot beucsse it doesn’t make sense while iOS does it.

Yes and I have same issue with ios17. I don’t know if drainage is higher when you have more AirTags but nevertheless AirTags drain battery. That’s why during the night you have only home/Lock Screen and find my in battery chart
