Yes and I have same issue with ios17. I don’t know if drainage is higher when you have more AirTags but nevertheless AirTags drain battery. That’s why during the night you have only home/Lock Screen and find my in battery chart

Do you just disable yours? Mine is only used for a suitcase that I rarely use. Also, could all our find my items be causing issues?

I always hear about AirTag. I have two. One mine and wife’s one shared. Someone had theory that during the night iPhone connect with find my app more often then during the day. I am not sure if it is true. Anyway next to me I have iPhone mini 13 with different Apple account any nothing on it. Also iOS 18 on board and it doesn’t drain at all. So as long as it is clean empty iPhone it is fine. But if you have anything on your phone it starts to drain. Sound pretty normal but sometimes we can’t figure it out why it drains so much

I have my backup iPhone running iOS 18.0.1, set up with all the same apps and settings as my 16 Pro, but without cellular service. Unlike the 16 Pro, it doesn’t experience significant battery drain. However, it did start draining when it was my main phone on iOS 18 with service.

That's another case. Cellular always drains battery because your phone constantly tries to connect to the service. That's normal. Wifi doesn't change anything because your carrier needs/wants some info.

Yes, for sure. This has just been abnormal drain since iOS 18.

Right there with you. I’ve submitted feedback multiple times and they’ve all been grouped to other similar reports. So we’re not alone. feedback is still marked as open so there may not be a resolution identified.

Has anyone had any experience getting an engineer involved with troubleshooting their issues? I’d be happy to turn on additional logging or lend my device and use to any other troubleshooting methods to get this solved.

My wife doesn’t have these issues on her 3 year old 13 pro with 78% battery health on 18.0.1. She’s actually getting more screen on time than I am. She has not disabled any background activity, has a lot of instagram use, and a dizzying amount of notifications.

So who knows. But it feels like there is something wrong here at the OS level.

Yes, I would happily submit to more logging on the phone for them to find an answer. I have never reached out to Apple support for battery issues as I assumed they were very specific to my phone. Maybe reaching out to support would do something?

Are you still submitting feedback on 18.0.1?

Just went up to 18.1 a few days ago. Figured battery was already so bad I might as well get back to the fun of testing new feature and submitting bugs.

Seems like I’m past the initial indexing/heavy processing of an update and am seeing effectively no difference between SOT on 18.0.1 and 18.1.

Good to know. I thought about going to 18.1, but figured it would be no better or worse than 18.0.1. I am getting scared we aren’t getting a fix.

For me my highest battery drain is Safari, but thats because I'm always on it. The next is Home and Lock screen at 17% currently, not sure if thats normal or not?
Weather Widget is a strange one as I removed that ages ago, thats at 6%

Iphone 15pro

Going to remove the news widget from the Lock Screen and see if that improves anything.

Hi, I would like to suggest you to turn off ProMotion for one day and test out the differences with standby (day and night).

I have had my 16 Pro (returned, was on 16.1 b5 and briefly on b6), my friend’s 16 Pro on 18.1 b6 and another friend’s 16 Pro Max on 18.0.1. With all the 16 Pro/PM models, it seems that if you turn off ProMotion, the battery drain is notably reduced on idle (daily use and night standby).

To you and to any 16 Pro / PM users, if you’re not coping and really want to investigate the issue please try the same.

I have a theory is that either Apple screwed up ProMotion’s power consumption with those new 1 nit minimum panels, or there’s a fault with A18Pro’s display related part which is responsible for ProMotion (like fine tuning refresh rates).

PS: This is to those with Pro/PM models and say they don’t have an issue.
Hopefully, at least for the 16 PM we should be expecting a good drain line during the day, and it is being advertised by Apple and testified by those tech reviewers in various tests that it should be superior than the 16 Plus, but in reality it isn’t. You paid 1199 USD for it, don’t cope and lie to yourself…

PS2: For those who want to know what exactly meant by turning off ProMotion, Settings--->Accessibility--->Motion--->Limit Frame Rate --- turn this on.

The issue is that this is a key selling point of the phone. I didn’t buy the Pro model for a 60Hz screen; I chose it for the 120Hz experience. A 60Hz display on the Pro is simply unusable.

I think your theory has merit. Another user suggested that the phone might not be scaling down the refresh rate when it goes to sleep, and I suspect that could be the case. It’s really frustrating, though.

Yes I understand that. Hopefully, 18.1 stable version, or the beta 7 coming this week could improve the issue…fingers crossed. I want everyone to enjoy their device not to be frustrated with things that they can’t control and paid for~~~

Yes! Me too! Thanks for the support and suggestion. Maybe 18.1 is the update that fixes things.

iPhone 14 Pro here running iOS 18.0.1 - Battery life is HORRIBLE - I disabled every single thing and the battery is still draining like crazy. All I use is Music, Safari and iMessage. I've been limiting notifications, disabling locations, even stopped using social media apps just to rule out the culprit.

Nothing is stopping this crazy drain.

I'm installing the latest iOS 18.1 beta build that was released today.

For context I have an AW10, two AirTags, and the 2nd gen AirPods Pro.

I find this very bad for battery life....

I'll keep you posted.

What’s your battery health with 14 Pro? Maybe there’s the problem…?

I have essentially the same app usage as you on a 16 pro and have similar battery issues. Slightly better SOT but that’s probably due to the newer/bigger battery in this phone.

Same as On 18.0? Or way worse with 18.0.1?

Currently on 18.1 because 18.0/18.0.1 were so bad. No better on 18.1b6 unfortunately.

I did just update to 18.1b7 not even an hour ago. If there is any improvement, I’ll pass that along.

Edit: just noticed I read this question wrong and it was directed to lleial 🤦‍♂️ oh well, experience still stand.

At this point, I don’t think Apple will fix this issue. If they were going to, it likely would have been addressed in the 18.0.1 update. They seem to have enough satisfied customers that this isn’t a priority for them, which is really unfortunate for those of us affected.

Meanwhile this is my casual daily usage with my humble 13 PM on 17.7 with stock battery on 87% health, so happy!
