Mine finally went away this morning. How about yours?

Same, the message had gone away this morning and the battery isn’t dropping as fast! 😄

iPhone 16 Pro uses 40% of battery with only 2 hours SOT… this is terrible. It’s like all the battery improvements Apple touted has been wiped out ever since updating to iOS 18.1.

Looks alright on my 16 Pro Max. Do you have any extension/content blocker installed in Safari that could be causing some high CPU usage?

My battery drain now so much better on 18.1 after the optimization finished yesterday. Phone still mildly warm at times when on cellular only. But was charged to 80% 15 hrs ago before bed. Now 13:00 next day and I am at 71%. Albeit with little use this morning.

So I had basically given up hope and in an interesting turn of fate I updated to 18.1 this week while I was out of town for work. That night, there was only 2% battery loss overnight. When I came back home, the overnight battery loss was equally as minimal. It felt like it was fixed! But then last night my idle battery drain was back to over 20%. The ONLY new variable between last night and the prior night was that my MacBook was powered on and “sleeping.”

Until last night my MacBook had been powered off and I don’t travel with it so it was nowhere near me. I believe my issue is related to some type of interaction with the Mac. Maybe it’s the new “mirror my iPhone” feature but even turning that off doesn’t help. There is a bug here. And maybe it’s just for me. But I can confidently say battery life of iOS is garbage and reminds me of my Pixel 3 and one of the reasons I switched to Apple. it may just be me but it is 100% broken. Maybe not for all, but it is broken and not even Apple tech support can fix it since my phone passes all health diagnostics. I’ve reset my phone twice and I’m not doing it again.

Highest is 9% but not on the top - 5th place.
Normally between 2-6% on one day
Do you use AOD?

When I spoke with Apple Support (a senior advisor), he was surprised by the high battery usage from the Home and Lock screens. My usage can range from 10% to 15%. I believe there may be a software issue preventing the screen from turning off completely or lowering the refresh rate. I am very eager to hear what the engineers say about my logs.

Interesting. My MacBook Pro is often near me and in sleep mode when I'm at home. This could certainly be the reason. I'll make sure to add this to my notes for Apple.

Not sure it is related.... but worth toggling off NameDrop. I think for me there was something going on between my phone and my own iPad at times!

I have no MacBook and the same high number from the lookscreen usage without AOD.

You can try it, but I don’t think that the MacBook ist the Problem

16 pro max on 18.1 here. Battery has taken a massive hit since the update.
I'm in the uk so switched language to get the Intelligence features but seems those features are killing battery life. Mine was 100% at 9am - now 14:30 and it's 62% so looks like 10% every hour. No calls today and mostly been on wifi. the last 24 hours is hard to judge because I've had to plug in the phone mid way through the day etc. Never had to before the update.

Do you ever have Home and Lock Screen near the top? 10% or higher?

I always have Home and Lock Screen between 10-15%, but it's been like that since iOS 17 for me. I do have some widgets on the lock screen and I don't feel the impact is that bad.

I only have an ad blocker, AdGuard. There’s no way to check its usage, is there?

I also used AdGuard, I just tried switching to Wipr today as on the Mac I got a noticeable speed increase on Safari, so I can assume it does use a bit of battery, but it's not possible to check its usage (as it's just a Safari plugin).

I’ve never encountered this issue until iOS 18. I’ve maintained the same setup with widgets and lock screen since iOS 16, and it hasn’t affected my home and lock screen usage. Something seems amiss in iOS 18.

Could it be that receiving a lot of notifications can make home&lock screen usage go up? I get about 500 notifications per day, and even though they go to the Apple Watch (most of them are silent or I would go crazy 😂), the lock screen still needs to update (and when I wake up the iPhone they're there ready to be seen).

I don’t receive any more notifications than I did on iOS 17. Apart from the messages app and Tapatalk, I hardly get any notifications. Surprisingly, the mail app is listed in the battery usage for notifications, but I don’t receive any notifications from it. Something is definitely amiss.

My 13 Pro Max has been background indexing since Monday and I definitely feel it. Although my battery health has dropped to 82%, I take off the phone at 6:00 am and it's at like 35% by 3:30 pm. I was hoping to wait a bit more until changing my battery but I might have to jumpstart those plans sooner than I thought.
