Lost 7% overnight off charger. Battery shows Find My using 100% of it, with some background activity from Outlook even though I turned off Background App Refresh for it. iPhone 16 Pro on iOS 18.1.

Do you use AOD?

When I spoke with Apple Support (a senior advisor), he was surprised by the high battery usage from the Home and Lock screens. My usage can range from 10% to 15%. I believe there may be a software issue preventing the screen from turning off completely or lowering the refresh rate. I am very eager to hear what the engineers say about my logs.
No I don’t use AOD - watch gives me all I need at a glance

Updated to 18.1 on 28th, had the ”Update Finishing in Background” for a few days. Battery life has been quite good, around 5h SOT on 50% fairly heave use. But, just got back the ”Update Finishing in Background” this morning… gone again. what’s this about one might wonder?

Yes agree. This is addictive, it’s become part of the interaction with the phone! Don’t have it on my work phone and always get slightly annoyed

Yep! I have having it sitting on my desk at work and showing the black screen with time and widgets with any notifications I get. I don’t have many set to alert me, but mainly messages.

I’ve become so accustomed to AOD that I’d find it challenging to revert back, even with an Apple Watch.
Wondering for what exactly you need it?
I get almost zero messages over the day, some notifications but not that much that I need that AOD feature at all - tried it for about 24 hrs but I think it’s not worth it, try to convince me 😂😅

Haha, need is a very strong word. I certainly don’t need it; I want it. I prefer to quickly glance at my weather widget, and if I have missed notifications on my watch or forgotten about them, I like to see them on my screen at my desk. These are just nice-to-haves that I’ve grown accustomed to.

AOD is easily my favorite feature on Saturdays and Sundays when there is a plethora of college and pro football on. I’m able to keep up with whatever games I’m interested in without pulling too much of my attention away from family or friends, assuming we’re not already watching football together 😂

Battery has been very good today on my 16PM. 90% remaining with 1h SOT, off the charger for 4h. Data and Wi-Fi mixed. Weirdly, today I had in usage device setup & updates although i have 18.2 since day 1. What I think helped is resetting network settings as i’ve seen above, turning off iCloud Drive from cellular menu and put Whatsapp backup weekly instead of daily.

Seems like the phone has finally fixed indexing, but at the same time I noticed my phone dropped to 81% BH. All things considered it still runs decently, but I'm guessing I would see a big difference if I got my battery replaced.

I’ve just got a 16 pro, which I’ve had for 5 days now, and I’ve noticed INSANE battery drainage.

The phone came, and I updated to iOS 18.1. The phone seems to be losing 1% every few minutes or so, with just browsing. The issue occurs on both WiFi and 5G (which is expected to perform worse). However, coming from the 15 Pro Max (wanted a smaller screen), which I did run on 18.0 for some days and was perfectly fine, I expected roughly the same, maybe slightly less battery life, but this is ridiculous. The phone seems to randomly also lose 1-2% upon using the camera.

Just by typing this message, I lost 2% (admittedly on 5G but with full coverage and nothing running in the background). Is this an iOS issue, something with the phone, or the battery is just bad? 😐

The device was also setup as new. No indexing.

for the first few days it was like that for me too, but I updated to 18.1 and after a few days everything stabilized, so I don't even know what to advise, maybe it still takes some time, as I understand, the indexing is still going on at your place

I tried it for a few days and got annoyed by it. I wondered why I got my watch for so I turned it off..
