Typically speaking, does playing music and using AirPods consume a lot of battery? I was waiting in line for a few hours this morning and I had music playing the entire time. On-screen usage seems fine to me, but I feel like the music (all downloaded to device, no streaming) and the bluetooth connection to my AirPods is the main culprit for this drain.

Hopped in developer beta 3 yesterday. Battery has been decent. Better than I had on 18.1. For me I find that any data, and particularly cellular, usage really takes a hit on the battery.

Also noticed that swapping between applications pulls a lot of power. If Iā€™m taking notes in notes but reading in kindle or books, that switching seems to cause lots of drain. If I stay in one app, battery seems to be better.

I may have spoken too soon. Lost 10% watching 15 minutes of a downloaded episode of rings of power. šŸ¤Ø 16 pro

Technically cellular, but cellular for the app is turned off and the episode was downloaded the evening before over WiFi
You installed beta 3 / public 2 today? Maybe thatā€™s why , still wondering why so much battery consumption

Thatā€™s fair. That may absolutely be a factor.

To me this seems abnormal. Today I had shy of 3.5 hours of screen time and 2.0 hours of idle time. (2.5 hours of idle time was mail while it was charging overnight) Used up 72% of my battery on a 16 pro. From unplugging to now itā€™s been 13 hours.

Thatā€™s actually not half bad. The same use case on 18.1 gets me 40-45% battery left.

Cellular has always been a battery hog on iPhones. Iā€™ve been noticing it too.

Ever since I updated to iOS 18, Iā€™ve had a lot of Home and Lock Screen usage for no apparent reason. Iā€™m on a regular iPhone 13 so I donā€™t have AOD and Iā€™ve tried removing widgets and everything but it still stays. Itā€™ll randomly even show in battery usage at times where Iā€™ve not used my phone, itā€™s super strange. It totals at least 1 hour every single day. Iā€™ve tried reinstalling iOS 18 multiple times, restored a backup, restored and set as new, but nothingā€™s helped.

Who else is having this issue? And for anyone who is, and has gone to iOS 18.2 Beta 3, has it fixed it by any chance?

Same problem for me o.

Battery life has been great the last days, I end up my day with 30-40% battery. 16PM, iOS 18.2 beta 3.

For me, the screen idle is now very small with beta 3.

Took of the charger today at 7 am. At 5 pm I had 80% left with 1 hour of SOT. For me itā€™s pretty good and definitely better than old versions of iOS 18.

You as well eh? Itā€™s so weird, I have no idea whatā€™s causing it. And the whole battery drain in general, which Iā€™ve found to be inconsistent ever since iOS 18 has come out. Thereā€™s days where my battery life is amazing, like just a couple weeks back, I had a day where it was phenomenal. But then with exactly identical usage, itā€™ll be noticeably worse the day after. So strangeā€¦

I updated to 18.2 PB Beta 2 and will report back on if thereā€™s any improvement.

I just got off the phone with my Apple senior advisor discussing submitting logs for engineering. I submitted everything he asked for, and then he proceeded to ask what my expectations were for battery life. I told him if I use my phone a decent amount 15 to 18 hours. If I donā€™t at least 24 but hopefully closer to 36. He said ā€œthese days with all that these phones do, you should expect 12-15 hours from full charge to 0. Maybe 18 hoursā€. I couldnā€™t believe that was his response. 12 hours really? That wouldnā€™t get me to 4 pm in the afternoon.
