My 16p is just sub par. No way else to say it.

If you use it with fragmented small usage, that’s pretty much what I get on my 16.

Yesterday 3h52 SOT
80% in the morning, 20% in the evening.

Maybe bring it to an Apple Store? Exchange it ? First reinstall 18.1 don’t forget that.

I’ve reinstalled 18.1, set it up as a new installation, and disabled various settings, yet the issue persists. Currently, I’m in a logging processing with Apple engineering, and I’ll submit it for evaluation on Tuesday. Given that someone else reported a similar issue to them, and they acknowledged it as a normal drain, my hopes for a resolution are somewhat dim. However, I do have a slight advantage in that I have a more experienced senior advisor, and I’ve been logging data for a significantly longer period compared to their suggested timeframe. Yesterday’s data is the perfect example of how bad the battery life is on my 16p. Hopefully they can see that.

I used my iPhone 15 to take 200 photos in 2 hours yesterday. It went from ca. 85% to 0.
So, no, iOS 18 is not good for battery life.

Camera uses an insane amount of battery.

It’s terrible right? What ridiculous, my battery is worse when I use it less.
Much much better than my 14 Pro with same use 👇👇👇

Sometimes I wonder if it's linked to my iCloud account but I made multiple tests…. It’s very difficult to investigate sneaky battery behaviour.

Hey all. Anyone seeing absurd use in the background for the photos app? Killing my battery….

Yeah this is a real problem. I have been thinking it might be an iCloud problem as well. Have you ruled that out?

Not completely because some tests show that my iPhone consumes as much as another and others test doesn’t.

If I let my device on YouTube continuously, it consumes normally. But if I use it with fragmented usage, it seems that it consumes a little more than others.

I have the same experience. It’s quite frustrating to not be able to pin down the cause. Sporadic usage of the phone seems to result in worse drain than constant or no use.

18.2 has been better than 18.1 was. Especially on WiFi. But now I get worse drain on cellular than I did on 18.1. No clue what’s going on.

If 18.2 doesn’t show more improvement I’m thinking of:
- restoring my phone back to 18.1 and not logging into my iCloud count for a few days
- logging into my iCloud account without downloading any data (not just not using a backup to restore, but disabling the download or sync of any contacts, photos, reminders, etc, and not using any 3rd party apps)
- downloading/syncing all my my iCloud data (still not using a backup)
- and finally downloading all my 3rd party apps.

At each step I plan to spend a few days to let any background activity finish up. And taking copious amounts of screenshots along the way. Hoping that data may help in my next conversation with support. I think part of the issue is engineering doesn’t know where to look and our experience isn’t bad enough to get their attention. Can’t think of an experiment better to prove there is an issue hiding in the iCloud data.

Or that’s not the cause at all. 😂 either way, it’s an answer!

Edit: adding today’s battery screenshot. (16 pro on 18.2)

Pretty much my same experience.

I haven’t updated to iOS 18.2 beta yet as I don’t want to ruin the great battery life I’m getting with my 15PM on 18.1!

7-8hrs SOT with around 20% remaining by bedtime and then back onto the charger. Best battery life out of all the iOS 18 releases.
great.my time has come 🙂🤨didn't you find any bugs lags or something ?
