My graph from last night… could’ve pushed it and gotten 2 days out of a single charge 🤯 (16 Pro Max on 18.2 beta 3)

Same as Pb 2 on my iPhone16P
I must say that 18.2 DB4 appears significantly more stable compared to any other version of 18 released so far. I’ve been playing with the Playground today, so my numbers may be a bit harsh, but I’m currently at around 3 hours of SOT with just over 50% left. While it’s not amazing, it’s definitely an improvement.

well, it's strange to hear such an opinion, but I'm the same as I said earlier that for me, for example, the beta all the time provides a longer battery life than the stable version.. why? I don't know, it just works longer

and everyone says that beta is harmful, the battery life should be shorter,,,and for me everything is absolutely the opposite..

Well, theoretically, it should have even better life once it’s fully released and all the logging for beta software is removed. However, to your question, it’s evident that Apple is actively working to address some of the background battery draining issues. This beta version serves as evidence of that. While it appears that a full release, 18.1.1, should offer more stability and extended battery life, there seems to be a persistent bug affecting battery life that is not as prevalent in the 18.2 beta.

Will setting a charge limit on your iPhone impact this result? This feature is available on iPhone 15 and 16 models which also limits regardless if you have optimized or Clean Energy charging on or off.

You can also enable this feature on your iPhone 14 or earlier if you enable a hack through nugget… works on iOS 18.2 and 18.1 developer beta 5 and later plus RC versions only.

I usually charge to 90 percent.

Can someone share his battery graph with small usage during the day (typically less than 10/15min) per hour ?

I wonder about the effect it has on a battery to turn on your phone 3 or 4 times an hour to use it for a few moments versus using it for 15 minutes in a row.

I cannot be satisfied with this ! Am I too demanding ?

iPhone 16 Plus, 18.1., very little usage per day. Mostly Gmail, Google Chat, some Google Meets and two phone calls. It's now Friday, 8pm and the phone is down to 40%. I'm kind of impressed.

My private Phone 15 Plus withs iOS 17.4.1 and 109 Charging Cycles and Battery on 99% Health doesn't hold out so long.

I'm all time on LTE with T-Mobile, the phone sets itself to low power mode during the night. I usually turn it on several times per hour @The_Smarti, as i don't have any notifications activated. I don't think that turning screen on / off couple of times drains the battery more than having it turned on for 15minutes straight.

What’s up with the blank spots in the battery chart? Did your iPhone update or shut down unexpectedly?

It seems the more I use the phone the ‘better’ the battery life is. If I have a lot of screen time in a day it obviously finishes with lower battery, but not significantly lower than if I have just a couple hours.

That’s what I saw many many times. iPhone sometimes uses same amount of battery no matter if you use it or not. Strange but it is what it is. That shows that most energy is consumed by background activities even if they are turned off

Very weird !

If I don’t use it at all, it loses 2% every 3h but if I use it 5/10min per hour, I can lose almost 10% during the same period ! When you know that 1h of YouTube continuously consumes less than 5%, it’s very curious how the phone manage the energy !

That's the most frustrating. It doesn't seem to suffer from battery drain at night for example but only from light use.

I’m not sure all iPhone are like that… ? If someone has practically no battery loss when using his phone 5/10 per hour, please share your graph !

Sometimes my iPhone is placed on my desk and I turn it over just to look at the %.... And often my intuition "I am sure I have lost 1%"…. is good!

My iPhone has the same behavior.

I think I’m not the only one to experience this on iOS 18.1, but after having excellent battery life during the first week, today the drain was noticeable, losing 40% of battery in less than 2,5 hours. This is also on WiFi and with the lowest brightness possible (I’m indoors).

The only apps I installed recently were ChatGPT and the KFC App (yes, I love fried chicken). Not sure if those were the culprit…

I’m not sure about disabling background refresh for apps like WhatsApp because I’m not sure they will work correctly, although my main usage according to stats are Safari (and I haven’t watched videos today), and the MacRumors webapp.

I closed all the active apps, and restarted the iPhone, and now it seems to have stopped completely. I’ve been typing here for 5 minutes and it hasn’t even dropped a 1%.

Yep, confirmed. The reboot solved it. In almost half an hour since the reboot it just dropped a 2%. Excellent, but I’d like to know what’s been her culprit…

Unfortunately everything you add to your phone drain your battery. Do you have AirTags? The more you add the bigger drain you see. Especially overnight. 8% overnight is a standard to me. On 15 pro 16 pro doesn’t matter. It is clearly on iOS. Same with Home Screen/Lock Screen which can be the most draining thing on my iPhone. Why? No idea. Yes I have few widgets but even people without them have same problem.
