iOS 18 Battery Life Thread

It’s funny, my iPhone 15 Pro Max degraded like crazy, but my 16 Pro Max hasn’t lost a percentage point yet. I know Apple improved the thermals, but I think there’s more to it than that.
Until June, I had a job where I was on my feet the whole time, I couldn’t charge my phone, so it pretty much drained every day. But I got a desk job after that, so I can plug my phone in every once in a while, which is better for battery health.
Moral of the story, plug in your phone every once in a while. Even better, set a limit (I don’t, but I should and I plan on doing so)

My battery like hasn’t been that great on RC1. Barely 3 hours uses 50% or more. Earlier versions used way less battery. Overnight battery drops like 3%.
On a different note, I’m having issues with Home & Lock screen consuming 20-30% every day and after trying every imaginable thing, I reset my phone completely last week and there is literally zero difference, still draining like crazy.

RC 1 - there is already the public release - it’s very good on my 15 PM - which iPhone you have ?
I mean to say it started with RC1 and continues with RC2/public release now.
iPhone 14 pro. I found some people complaining about high Home and lock screen use on promotion iPhones, but I’m not sure if it’s conclusive.

Battery life sucks on my iPhone 15 PM with iOS 18.4
I rarely chime in about battery life, especially right after an upgrade and knowing things take time to settle/index.
I upgraded on Monday, and the past couple days feel as though battery drain is notably bad with 18.4

Since the first release, iOS 18 drains my battery much faster than iOS 17. New iPhone SE 2022, bought last summer.
Previously, on iOS 17, the battery drained 3-4% overnight, now 7-8%. In the battery consumption statistics, I only see one entry - "Find My - 100%"
I have no AirTags, Apple Watch. I have only AirPods Pro 2.

I would update, the battery drain difference with your current version doesn’t seem significant and you’re gaining lots of security and bug fixes, including the one that prevents push notifications to work on Mail App.
Check your settings related to the "find my" service. Are you sharing location? Test to turn the service off and see what happens.
Mess around with the "find my network" setting.
Location alerts and adjust how many apps you are allowing to use Location Services.
Turn off find my on the airpods to see if it makes a difference.
Most of these settings are in "privacy and security"
Battery life on 18.4 on my 15 pro max (battery at 91%) is very good. 6-am to 6pm and around 50% average. Just doing normal stuff for work and normal daily activities. I like 18.4 thus far
If you don’t necessarily need that much battery during the day, cap it lower - 80-85%, it is much healthier on the battery.
Bruh I keep it off the charger for half the day on my long days Tuesdays but I wish we can set charging limits by day. I usually like setting it lower if I don’t go to school or work all day.
Hold on a moment. I had watched those videos before that guy used Geekbench to test the battery life of his iPhones.
This one is more realistic in terms of the apps we typically use on our iPhones daily. It’s from a different YouTuber:
There you have the iOS updates destroying battery life. With more recent iPhones on original iOS versions, you can match Apple spec. I’ve matched the Xʀ (I’ve gotten 16-18 hours, Apple claims 16), which had a similar battery life to the iPhone 11 on iOS 14 I’ve tested (Apple claims 17); my 16 Plus extrapolates to about 27-29 hours (Apple claims 27).
Going by that, if the regular iPhone 16 gives 9h 55 minutes, the iPhone 11 should have 77% of the iPhone 16’s battery life. So, 458 minutes or 7h 38 minutes with the same usage. Instead, it gets 4 hours and 18 minutes.
Extremely clear. About 56% of what it should get, for a total iOS 18 impact of 44%. Sounds like what you can expect.
I will be testing an iPhone 11 on iOS 18 soon, and I expect to get around half of what I get with my iPhone Xʀ that still runs iOS 12.
