Ain’t bad that’s completely fine for battery to go down like that off the charger. But I turn off background app refresh entirely, so why not just turn it off?
With only 3h of usage (all together, screen on and off)?
Back in the days my iPhone 4, 5, 5s, 6s, 7, XS got more than that (I don't compare it with the 12/13 Pro Max I had).

I don't turn it off because of convenience. As an example, I don't want to wait until a note I've edited on the iPad is reloaded on the iPhone one hour later.
Also, in my case, it's maybe about 1-2 % over the whole day if it even has an effect.

I have a theory that large system data file sizes is causing poor battery life based on my personal experience.

The moment my system data automatically drops to 1.07GB
I notice amazing battery life and a much snappier 16 Pro

However this lasts a day or 2 before it reverts back to above 7GB

I'm very interested to know how iOS suddenly finds 7+ GB of system data.

I understand what you mean. You use handoff, Universal Clipboard, and iCloud sync frequently across your iPad and iPhone, right? Do you also use sidecar on your iPad with your Mac? 🖥️

Here is my iPhone 16 with 18.4 (Beta 2).
Pretty bad, no ?

I have never had a good battery life whatever the model of iPhone despite of fresh install each time….

How high was your brightness? Looks like it was about 4.5 hours 100-50%.

How are your settings? Is background app refresh enabled? How are your locations settings? Always in-use?

For a 16 Plus… I’d call that mediocre at best. I have a 16 Plus too and I’m getting more than that with camera and 5G. With HEAVY camera use (50% of the percentage drops can be explain with 5G outdoors camera use), I got 5.5 hours 100-70% (so I used 30%). Your usage is way lighter and you’re dropping 50% with 4.5 hours and moderate use at worst?

If you can give me more information and data perhaps it’s explainable, but I’m not sure.

I mean, I’m happy with the battery life. Was just curious as I never understand that screen. Thx for your input!

A good way to know battery life is to add individual bars since you unplugged: in your example, add them from 11 (if you started to use it after unplugging it) or 12 (if you used it after 11:00 while it was charging).

Basically never.
Same here with me.

I only use Universal Clipboard to copy images from my old iPhone 7 when I do shots of my iPhone and Apple Watch to showcase watch face and wallpaper pairings.

For Handoff, not as much. I don’t see Universal Clipboard impact battery life in any way whatsoever.

Slow charger?! Do you use a PD charger? It got capped early and the drop in battery life seems abnormal to me especially on an iPhone only a few days to months of use.
I use an Anker wireless charger 7,5 W. But I don't know why it could impact on battery life ! Electrons are electrons !

75 watts or 7.5 watts? Is it USB-C?

Only time my iPhone detects a charger is a slow charger is when I use USB-A to USB C cables that are these cheaply made ones I get from the dollar store.

Good morning, iPhone users! I have a question for you. As I checked out my charging settings, I noticed that iPhone 14 and older users don’t have this feature. So, this is only for my 15, 15 Pro, 16, 16e, and iPhone 16 Pro users. I checked the charge limit, and iOS suggested that I lower it from 95% to 90% as the maximum limit. I’m going to cap the battery of my 15 Pro at 90%. Is this a new feature in iOS 18.4, or has it been there since you got your 15 Pros in iOS 17 or since y’all got your 16s? Now, I’m pausing charging after my iPhone hits 90%.
