I have a new suspect …
Wondering why I didn’t think about that before.
The HomeKit page in Control Center.
Maybe because of unresponsive devices 🤔

I‘ve removed it to check if it makes a difference, I‘ll report back in a few days.
Hope this fixes it for you!

Do you use a HomeKit hub or do you control them with HomePod?

Do you have any news about that? I'm curious

We have 3 AppleTVs, 1 HomePod 1. gen and 4 HomePod Minis.
Should be enough HomeKit hubs ;)
How I control the HomeKit devices depends on the situation, mostly watch or a HomePod.
How many HomeKit accessories do you have? Seems like you have lights and smart security cameras and locks. 🔐

It‘s a bit early to say something specific, also my last few days were different from my usual ones, so it’s hard to compare. Overall I‘ve used the phone more than I usually do, it should have brought me through the day, but I‘ve charged it during the day to be on the safe side. I‘ve attached some screenshots.

6 door/window contacts (Eve)
4 cameras (3 eufy + homebase, 1 Aqara doorbell)
1 lock (Nuki)
6 motion sensors (Hue)
22 (Philips Hue) lights (2 are offline/powerless during the day)
13 thermostats (Eve)
6 thermometers (5 Qingping, 1 Eve Weather)
I think that’s all.
But, of course, not everything was in CC, see screenshot.

Hey there! Your home screen is taking a toll on your iPhone’s screen time and idle time. How many interactive widgets and Smart Stack widgets do you have on it? Try removing any unnecessary widgets. Also, make sure to close Microsoft Teams when you’re done using it. Sometimes, background use, like for chats and other activities, can drain your iPhone battery. Are you running the 18.4 beta 2 or 18.3.1 version of iOS on your iPhone? 📱

Big difference in battery life between the two.

Yeah, best of luck getting 17 hours on the iPhone 11 on iOS 18.

The Xʀ is rated for 16 hours. I can get 16 hours on iOS 12. With the light usage that allows me to get 18 hours I’m not even sure I can get 9-10 on iOS 18.

I’ll be upgrading an iPhone 11 to iOS 18 and I’ll hopefully be able to try it. We’ll see.

As already said, there is only the photos widget on my homescreen (as long as there is no focus, there is no widget on the homescreen if a focus is active).
On the widget screen there are:
  • Battery
  • Calendar
  • Notes
  • Weawow (weather)
  • Shortcuts
That's it.

Teams only exists in the app switcher as long as I'm working (I'm opening it too often, closing it every time will have more negativ impact).
Background app refresh is on for only 5 apps (Maps, Notes, Signal, Voice Recorder, Threema) and has only an effect if the app is present in the switcher, but it's also not recognizable.

I'm currently on 18.4 Dev Beta 2 and it's better than with 18.3.1, even with this "update in progress, blah ..." message.

16.5h off the charger, 29 % battery left with 1.75h screen on and 1.75h screen off. With a lot of Teams usage today (like the days before ... it's a tough week).
=> around 4.3 % per hour, which is, taking in consideration I had 1.5h Teams calls on the phone today, actually kind of okay.

However, there is no significant drop in the curve as one would expect when using teams, see screenshot.

I often read your posts here but I still don't want to mess with it, but damn it, try resetting to factory settings because this is really annoying

The problem with this is, if it would solve the issue ... the cause would still be unknown ... which means, if it happens again there is still nothing I would call a solution ...
Also it's a pita to configure everything again.

Currently I'm working from home nearly every day, so I have a charger basically everywhere I am and, with a few exceptions, the same conditions every day.

Congratulations, but it's an interesting decision. Why 16e and not some other 16 series model?
Well at this current time in my life it was the cheapest way to get the latest iPhone with the A18 & Apple intelligence. Enjoying the size and weight too 😁

Also battery life is impressive

Ain’t bad that’s completely fine for battery to go down like that off the charger. But I turn off background app refresh entirely, so why not just turn it off?

There is no need to update iPhone 11 to 18.3.1. In my experience, the best firmware for it recently is 17.7.1 in terms of battery consumption.

The best firmware is iOS 13, but it’s running iOS 14 and I need something newer without exception.

I wish I could update to something older, I’d go to the oldest compatible version I need. iOS 18 is all I can install, sadly…
