Been playing with widgets. Functionality is very hit/miss/broke. 15 ProMax

Weather - shows odd info that doesn’t make sense - sometimes.
Calendar - delete an appt in the calendar but the widget shows it
Outlook Calendar - same
Mail - the email status may not match the actual status in the app.
etc ….

Is the Apple Store app crashing for anyone on beta 3?

Also, I noticed that in control center, they changed the behavior of the power button. Now you have to press and hold on it instead of just tapping it, which should prevent accidental presses.

Apple Store still crashing on my 15PM. It also crashes on my iPad Pro asking for location permission every time.

Agree. Wish people would stop using it. Nothing like their stupid wall of random boxes, numbers, and emoji names without the emoji to make me have to scroll extra to view the information.
I’ve done it a couple of times simply out of force of habit. And each time I’ve gone and edited the post to remove all the crap. I get that its annoying, but at the end of the day, its not like its consuming scarce paper or something.

Shhh...it just got stuck for me.
If youre still having issues with the Mail app you can report it and reference my feedback.

Since my report in beta 2 there has not been similar report yet, Feedback app shows None. So this might be isolated case where this bug only affects very small amount of people.

Haven't found a compelling reason to try it out yet. No new Siri or AI. What I want to try most. I have like one friend on Android, so RCS will be nice, but not worth the hassle of beta life. All the small bugs make it seem like it's worth waiting. Thoughts?

Well, I have zero friends. I have siri disabled and Im not interested in AI. But I love to test new stuff, so this is the reason alone why I jumped in the beta.

Same. I have a couple friends on Android and RCS has been a welcome addition.

I also like testing new stuff. I waited until DB 2 to install. Now we’re on DB 3 and I’ve already noticed a good improvement in terms of stability and performance. Sure, battery life will take a a hit and there will be some glitches and app incompatibilities, but nothing of note has affected me so far.

I also wanted to try out the messaging over satellite feature. I do a good amount of remote camping without cell service, so being able to message people is a good safety net for me. Haven’t had a chance to try it out yet, though, but I’ve heard it’s live and works as expected.

Has anyone else's Messages app disappeared from Carplay? I don't send many texts from Carplay, but I noticed it tonight. Messages doesn't show up in the customization area of Carplay in iPhone settings.

My volume buttons are not working to adjust ringer volume.
My volume control in Control Center is frozen and non responsive.
Both work to control volume when sound is already playing.

Reboot doesn’t help
Had the same issue. Adjusting the volume in app such as music fixed if for me temporarily. Saw in the Developer forum that it’s related to Vocal Shortcuts.

Settings > Accessibility > Vocal Shortcuts

It was still turned on for me even though I had deleted the one I created to try it out in B1. I had to create a new one and delete it to turn off Vocal Shortcuts

Interestingly this seems to also be related to notifications not sounding as well.

And one thing that came to my mind just now, i actually uninstalled Mail app in beta 2 and didnt reinstall it until I had beta 3 installed. So you could try to uninstall and reinstall Mail app, just in case theres still some resedue remaining from beta 2 that is causing this issue.

In beta 2 I ended up using iCloud Mail through browser, that didnt have any sync issues.

Crashed on my 15Pm as well. Good thing it's not pre-order time ha!

Technically, DB3 behaves better than DB2, so could work as PB1 next week.

The major implemented perks vs iOS 17 so far are related to visual tweaks (larger icons, dark mode icons, tinted icons, icon placement overall and control center customisation). RCS is still patchy, Siri & AI tweaks are not there yet. iPadOS now has a native calculator app, yohoo! /s

Reported bugs in DB3 (alarms not going off and Waze/Google Maps not working for some) make me wonder if it’s worth it putting on our main devices yet.

So far I am testing it on my backup iPhone, but no major wow! features, making me think “Can’t wait to have it on my daily devices”.

I don’t think the general “behavior” of a particiar build is what governs whether it becomes a public beta or not. We’ve frequently seen the end user “experience” (or overall wonkiness) deteriorate between developer betas 2 and 3 and yet 3 becomes the public beta. I believe 3 just has to hit a minimum QC level for it to become the public beta, even if it is not the best possible user experience.

I agree that what we’ve seen thus far has been mostly cosmetic. RCS has been a very nice addition though. I can’t believe they activated it during beta season.

I leave for an extended trip on Monday, much of which will be off the cellular grid (sorry avid followers!) during the day (think “boat” and “ice”). I have debated whether it’s best to stay on 18 b3 (for the satellite texting mainly) or revert back to 17.

I believe my phone made the decision for me this morning as my Apple emoji keyboard disappeared (though, oddly, I can get to my normal emoji via the Grammarly keyboard ⌨️). I can’t risk major things failing on this trip so I will likely revert back to 17.whatever for the trip. I’ll still have access to satellite emergency services if needed (hope not!), which will be fine.
