So far seems fairly stable. Only issue I have is some of the icons go blank
I think that's just a caching issue? I've seen that, too, and it seems to just take time to load what apps are installed. I'm seeing Apps in the App Store that are updating aren't "updating" in the list of Updates (say that 3 times fast). Refreshing the App Store then shows the accurate list.. I'd assume this would be straightened out.

It also makes the bottom navbar disappear.

Anyone else surprised the public beta didn't come with DB3 this year?
Nope. The public beta always lags the DP by about a week. Later in the cycle they will close that gap to a day or two, and finally, several hours. But the first public beta being coming out in the week between DP3 and DP4 is absolutely standard, historically speaking.

iPhone 13 Pro iOS 18 DB 3

Took 6 RAW images [Apple Camera] then shot a close to 2 hour video with Final Cut Camera and battery ended 15% from 97% [5G Cellular enabled]

Took 4 RAW images after ending the video, however, the last 3 RAW images seem to be of low quality/resolution [in YouTube or video terms, originally shot in 4K but only shows below 720p when watched]

The weird thing is, 2 of those low quality RAW images is in full quality when uploaded to Instagram as Stories but low quality on Facebook Stories, so I decided to delete from Facebook Stories and post something else instead...

Out of all the 10 RAW images, not once did I tap to focus, including the 10s timed shots...

I don't know if the full quality will show up after a full charge, or that will be it... Will be transferring the RAW images to the computer later to check the picture quality...

Am I missing the bigger battery [longer battery life]? Yes... Is the weird result due to beta iOS? I think so...

Where did you verify that those pictures were of lower quality? I don't get this whole message, you speak of Instagram, Facebook, YouTube (?), but where did you actually check the quality in a reliable way? And in what way is the quality lower?

I looked at the RAW images in the iOS Photos app...

The resulting image is like out of focus or digital zoom... Only iPhone 14 Pro/Pro Max and newer has a toggle to select the image resolution...

Not once did I use digital zoom... I only used the main camera a.k.a. 1x

I have now transferred the RAW images to the computer but they are not blurred or low quality unlike when viewing them in the Photos app...

I'm not going to upload the images here for the privacy of those in the RAW image... And yes, I'm one of those that point out thread starters that say they encountered an issue or need help with something but do not post a photo/screenshot...

My uploads on Facebook are set to friends only [yeah, Facebook/Meta can see everything even if set to only the uploader has access]

I used IrfanView 4.66 64bit on Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC 2019

I will be uploading the said blurred/low quality images using desktop browser instead of the Facebook app...

Yes, uploading RAW directly to social media can be problematic... it could be that your RAW images were not (yet?) processed by the iPhone photos app to look good. I guess it was overheated or something, it happens.

That could also be a possibility... It could also be due to having low power [about 15% battery charge or less]

Again, I have used iPhone 14 Pro Max for more than a year with iOS 16.7 as the final update before I replaced it with iPhone 13 Pro that I have now running iOS 18 DB 3 so I'm fairly new to the smaller battery and beta iOS daily experience...

The last time I used beta daily was iOS 15.x on iPhone 7 Plus and at the time, I only took photos and videos with my Nikon D5500 DSLR camera but since 2023 [when I bought my iPhone 14 Pro Max] my main gear for photo and video is the iPhone while my DSLR camera is the backup...

I think I remember (it was a long time ago) that RAW files does not show up as detailed as they really are - the photos app shows not the full details.

You checked it on PC and it wasn’t blurry or bad quality at all.

I think it just has to be the photos app, nothing more.

It's just weird that only the last 3 out of 10 RAW images shot within the day that shows as blurry or looked like shot via digital zoom... It's also weird that Instagram Stories showed the images in high quality but Facebook Stories show them blurred or out of focus or shot via digital zoom or low quality [144p or 240p or 360p or 480p in video terms being watched in a 1080p or 4K screen]

Just an added context, the 10 ProRAW images and almost 2 hour video were all shot in an airconditioned [air-cooled] room and I used a silicone/rubber case which I've never done before, I use my smartphones without a case including my iPhone 14 Pro Max...

Out of curiosity, and since I only use a black wallpaper, I tried to customize the Lock Screen but the RAW image is not blurred at all... I've shot the last 4 RAW images at 15% battery charge remaining but only the last 3 show as blurred in the Photos app...

I'll just observe and check if future RAW images [ProRAW] will exhibit the same behavior in the Apple Photos app... I already know that I am using beta software [iOS 18 DB 3] so no need to point it out to me... I wish I could downgrade it to iOS 16 or even iOS 15, but I can't, Apple doesn't allow it, and I don't like the "stable" iOS 17.x

I will just continue the path of beta iOS and check again in September once the non-beta version gets released...

Still baffled by this wasted space on the bottom. Using the large icons makes it even worse. Wish Apple would just add an extra row of icons or at least give us the option.
I agree. Personally I wish they’d give us the option to just remove the dock entirely and add another row or two to the bottom of the screen. I don’t really need a static dock on each home screen page but an extra row or two would be nice.

They made unwanted or unneeded changes to the Photos app so even though the dock is a design from the beginning of time [since the iPhone was introduced], some of you may get what you wish for...

Taking that long a video almost certainly caused the sensor to become very hot, if not overheat. Heat is the enemy of photo sensors. So it would not be not terribly surprising if the RAW images taken just after that video did not turn out well.

I went to a roadtrip today with my electrical scooter and shot a bunch of 48mp proraw photos, and most of them looked like washed out and lacking a punch. Usually over exposured and very under saturated. But luckily proraw saves all the data that photo has so its easy to edit afterwards.

I like to have my photos to give a very vibrant punch, someone might call them artificial looking but thats my jam.
