Could you guys please help me get a message across to Apple via their Beta Feedback app? I use the widgets on my first page and Apple’s clock widget does not change (remains light) once the dark mode is activated, becoming a proverbial white sheep. Have a look:

Can you please lobby Apple with me to darken it up along the rest of their widgets. My Feedback ID is:

Thanks a lot!
The clock indeed does not change to dark mode - it was like that even on iOS 17! So it’s not a bug, they simply didn’t do that to that clock design…sadly

Your thinking is off here. Everything being released in the developer betas right now is working towards the RC that will go on devices released in September. So, if they put any of the AI features on the DB prior to naming the RC, they plan on releasing it in September.

The AI stuff is most likely still in the alpha testing stage. Anything we get prior to RC, IF we get anything, will be minor I suspect, with the heavy stuff coming after the announcement and release of the 16 series iPhones.
They could test the AI features and still could disable it for the official release, just to test it, it does not mean you have to roll it out to the official release in September

So your argument is kinda weak, even if it’s in alpha status, they could enable it in dev beta ! They did this with some things in the past already, do not remember which feature it was, but they did this already in the past, testing some things and disable them before official release, eventually bringing it back in the future.

So Apple intelligence will likely be available for a short amount of time in dev beta I guess, maybe if we’re lucky it will released in RC but with the label „beta“ on it.

Are Message Filters still available in iOS 18? I'm referring to additional filters like 'finance', 'receipts' along with 'unknown senders'
I see known and unknows senders filters, but not others - i.e., Finance etc.

That clock widget is fixed to white. They also have one which is fixed to dark.

If they don't have one which changes with the system setting for dark/light mode, then yeah, they should add one.

Just installed the second developer beta 4 and I now have the brightness bug. It didn’t show up in the first beta 4. I can hardly see the screen. Anyone else?

Did you restarted your phone? Force restart?
If yes and it stays like that, can you live with this bug?

The AI stuff is not some minor feature to be casually disabled just so they can test it... It will come out of alpha first and they will incrementally release AI features. The reason being is that they are integrating the AI stuff throughout iOS. Disabling something like that requires rolling back code and features elsewhere throughout the OS.

On top of that, they are standing up a significant amount of infrastructure to support this stuff and honestly, I suspect that is where the holdup is. They need sufficient compute capacity (even if they are claiming most of the processing will be on device they still need the server capacity) and they are probably still fine tuning the LLMs.

Having said all that, I do get your point about them releasing some things with the "beta" label on it. Took them forever to remove that label from Private Relay. If we do get anything prior to RC it will be minor in nature, but I can't for the life of me think which of the AI features that would be.

This is strange, however, as they have changed the other widgets and the small clock icon for the dark mode.

You stated this AI feature being pushed to consumers as a beta would be a first, and I provided an example you were incorrect.

I’ve been very clear, but you seem to not want to accept your statement was factually incorrect and go off on tangents and accuse me of being vague, incorrectly.

You’re trying to muddy things by conflating an iOS beta with a feature beta. Private relay and Apple Intelligence are features available in beta for consumers to try.

Seeing as you’re being dishonest in your discourse, I see no point in conversing with you further.
Uh? I not muddy anything. I stand by my first statement.

So my statement was not incorrect because the person that I replying too I was referring to it not being sent out as part of iOS 18s full release to everyone without them opting in first as a public beta. It will would just be on everyone’s phone that meets the requirements for iOS 18 as a public beta without opting in first. That in fact would be a first. Here is your private relay https://www.macrumors.com/2021/08/25/icloud-private-relay-ios-15-public-beta/. A public beta part of iOS 15. A public beta is exactly what we are doing with iOS 18 right now.

You can choose to have read my first comment how ever you like, but I am not being dishonest at all. My first statement as how I described it above. There has never been a feature released to everyone on an iOS update that had to be opted out of to not be a part of the beta. Yes AI will be a public beta, but it will be an automatic opt in option.

You can choose to read my post how ever you like, but accusing me of being lying I will not stand for. If you can’t treat me with respect, I see no reason to continue.

I am still curious as what was so messed up it warranted a same week re-release... Maybe it was the frequent dropped/missed calls that some were reporting.

And normally when a new beta drops I don't get an on device notification the same night. Did they code iOS 18 to do nightly update checks? Or did they flip a switch to push that check?

Sure there are many things that needs to be done before the „beta“ label can be removed from Apple Intelligence, but I believe that the new Design for Siri will be available at launch of iOS 18, as well the integration of Chat-GPT, as well the magic eraser for pictures, as well as image playground and AI emoji too. All in beta status, so if they do not function well, they can easily say „it’s beta, what you’d expect?“

I as well got a notification on my old 13 Pro a week ago that there is the new beta 3 available.
It would be nice if they finally get it to work that we receive notifications about new updates that fast.

Yeah... with it being black on white, they could easily just reverse that for dark mode, or at least throw a grey on the clock face to tone it down.
Yeah that would be nice, on iOS 17 I used the clock as my sleep screen, it’s kinda bad that the clock won’t change to dark mode.
Maybe they add it? Would be nice, still I wouldn’t use it, I like my screen as it is right now and don’t need sleep screen anymore.

It is just a pure inconsistency on Apple’s side - they have dark widgets for calendar, music, reminders, maps, podcasts, notes, weather, their regular clock app - you name them, yet the clock widget sticks out. Please ask them to tweak it!

Random heat still an issue as well as heat while charging
Will that ever be fixed? I have been having that issue since iOS 16. On and off, some updates help, but nothing has completely fix it. Has seemed to have gotten worse though on the iOS 18 betas. Back to where it was with the release of the 15s.

I found this widget when writing feedback to them:

Does this helps you? Just choose which city you are in and voila here you go, dark mode clock widget…?
