Any problems when I'm running beta software on my Apple Watches? Guess it's possible to reinstall the software on them as well.

No, that’s not possible, you have to send it to apple or maybe Apple Store will be enough.

That was the reason, why I needed to install iOS 18 beta on my brand new 15PM, because before I had 13 Pro with my watch 8 on watchOS 11 beta…

Sorry to say that, if you want a functioning watch you have to reinstall iOS 18 beta!

I will remember this for future betas. Stay with my watch on official releases and only iPhone gets beta.

But you still want iOS 18 beta if I remember correctly, right? So no problem there, just downgrade to iOS 17.6.1 and after that install iOS 18 beta 7 dev or beta 5 public

Thanks. This was useful!
So, I can reinstall iOS 17 on my iPhone, and still use it with my Apple Watch, but only if I upgrade up iOS 18 beta?

Yes, because when you downgrade your iPhone to iOS 17 you have to wipe it. And set it as new device.
Therefore the watch won’t connect with your iPhone - until you install iOS 18 beta on your iPhone.
Would recommend installing iOS 18 dev beta 7!

Reply when you’ve done the downgrade + installing dev beta !

Good luck 😊

Thanks, but what? I already run ios 18.1 dev beta. Was there an option to install ios 18.0 dev beta? And, could I still connect to my AW if I just run the ios 18 public beta?

Are you asking if you stay on 17.XX on your phone and Beta your watch or putting Betas on both? I have IOS beta 7 18 and Watch OS 11 beta and all works normal---except battery still sucks on my watch.

I wonder if I can run ios 18 public beta(in the newest version) and Watch OS 11 in beta together.

The most important is to get rid of the developer beta so that I, hopefully, can install the official iOS 18 on my current phone before I get the new iPhone.
If that made any sense..

(I'm impressed how incredible helpful and nice you all are here 🙌).

Ok first, no you have to go back to iOS 17.6.1! -> set up as new phone

Then install iOS 18 beta public or dev beta, what you more prefer.

Then you can connect your watch again to your iPhone.

That should make no difference at all!

First of all downgrade and then install the public iOS 18 beta and you’re good to go!

Thanks again. And it will automatically download the best official version when I restore from my Mac now? My iPhone is like just a "plug the cable in" from beginning the process.

You need to go into DFU Mode - google it.

And then over the finder in your Mac revert to iOS 17.6.1

I don’t have a Mac, so just google it.
But I believe zollotech did a YouTube Video on it

Thanks a lot 🙂
I'm on it now. Have to use the Pixel 9 Pro in the meantime. That's interesting...
And again, thanks so much for all your help 🙏
You’re welcome!
What’s interesting?
In about an hour you should have loaded iOS 18 beta public and ready to go 😉

I didn't have to do that...I was on 17.5 and my watch was on OS 10.XX---I went to 18.0 Beta and my watch was fully functional on OS10.XX---later on I updated the watch to OS beta 11 in hopes battery life would be better...it wasn't.

Newly on this beta, super disappointing to see that scheduling text doesn't apply to RCS text messages, only iMessage.

Not sure if they did this for differentiation reasons or maybe logically sound concerns about it not going through as expected if the phone were turned off/disconnected from the cell network. In either case I hope they migrate the feature across all messages in the stock messaging app.

Good to hear, now only select public beta iOS 18 and your watch should work too!
I'll install it tonight 🙂
Pretty tired now after this operation...
Will try to reconnect my Apple Watch tomorrow. And all the other dozens of watches and earbuds...

Thanks again both of you @one mdone and @Stiille . I'll just embrace ios 18.1 and start here. The only thing I see as a problem, I'd when I'm upgrading to iPhone 16 Pro in September. That will be delivered with ios 18 I guess...
By then 18.1 may have more betas available and be ok. Then you can update your iP16 rest from your backup (the one you are going to make :) ) , to it and be all set.

Wow ok so NOW get a backup of 17.6.1 and archive it. THEN you will have options going forward to upgrade, downgrade, or whatever you want to do.

Now back on topic for this thread. 18.0 beta bugs, fixes, improvements etc. :)

Talking about improvements - it looks like Optimized Charging is back to how it should work - ends 1h before scheduled wake up alarm and stays 80% even when I type right now which was not present with iOS 18 or 17 before in my case of 11Pro.

Overall charging seems to be also less warming up device compared to previous betas so it’s nice - not only on 5W charger and IKEA MFI cable but also when charging wirelessly on my desk MagSafe charger (God bless AliExpress phone case with magnets array).

One more thing - is schedule start and end date setting is something new in Medications ?
When open details of medication which is to be taken daily and open Schedule edit - I see only on my iPhone on this Beta7 that there can be set end date (start date was set automatically with setting up).

It’s not present when opened the same location on iPad with iPadOS 17.6.1

Thinking about finally jumping onto the betas since it’s late in the game so theoretically it should be pretty stable by now. Are there still any major bugs or battery drain issues?
