is release canidate the NON beta version? THE OFFICIAL 18.0 release? should i turn beta mode off? for updates
You decide.
I will go with the RC and from there only with official releases.
The RC is most likely the finished product which will be released today/tomorrow one week ahead of the public release

It’s the iOS/iPadOS 18.0 RC. Usually it is the conclusion of the beta cycle and same build as what the public sees. You don’t need to turn off get beta seeds until after the public release. Then when you see the next beta cycle start it’s your option to cease, or participate.

The Release Candidate is still a “beta” in that it is just that: a candidate. But it is intended to be the build that is released to the public.

If you download it and that builds ends up being the same build as gets released to the public then you won’t see anything offered to you on public release day, as you will already have it.

Though that will be interesting given that we have an 18.1 beta in the wild.

It's not a beta, it is a build that for all intent and purposes has been deemed as good to go, at least at the time of release. It has none of the debugging or logging stuff turned on.

At that point, you can safely turn off the beta tag. If they end up releasing a slightly higher build as the public release, your phone will update to it automatically.

Release candidate is still a final beta.
After incorporating feedback from the beta phase, the software undergoes one last round of thorough testing via a RC seed.
This testing performed by the Apple development team, ensures that all parts of the software works perfectly and that any remaining issues are resolved. It’s about making sure the software is reliable and ready for a wider audience. If it's not then you could see a second RC or a third RC.
Usually the RC can be the basis of a Public release with the same build if it's found to be acceptable. But it's not 100% guaranteed. We normally expect it is though. ;)

Is tomorrows release candidate the os that iPhone 16s that will be coming to stores next week be running ? Or older iOS ? I don’t wanna run into a issue with connecting my iOS watch ultra 2 with my new iPhone 16

When I recently gave my mom my old iOS watch they had to ship it out to get it to be restored cause I had iOS 11 running on it and my mom isn’t on the beta.

After working all day in the thousand degree heat in so Cal so I can afford an iPhone, I think I’m going to stay home all day, might just stay home all week so so tired. Gotta be up early again tomorrow.

Fire sale right? Try looking at https://fire.airnow.gov/#8/34.052/-118.243
Always tell you everything about fires, smoke, and unhealthy air. Turn on NOAA smoke option to see where the plume is in the sky.

Thankfully it’s been “ok” around here, and improves at night, could be a lot better though. Wish the iPhone had an air quality sensor built in considering how dangerous air pollution is.

Like I said, it’s a build deemed ready at the time of release but it is NOT a beta build. It doesn’t even have a beta build number or the beta debugging stuff enabled. You can call it a preproduction build if you want. But it is not considered a beta build.

+1

RC is considered by apple as the final version if they don't found anything problematic with it at last minute. But it's not a beta build. It's a Release Candidate (like the name stand for it)

You won’t have any issues.

Suggest you do some research on some of these questions first before posting here. We’re happy to help but some of these are things you can find easily on Google.

So with iOS 18.0 RC today let’s speculate on time. I say 4:03pm EST. (Please do not say after Apple event)

We are looking for a specific time.

This should keep us busy to pass time before Apple event. 😁
