I almost wonder if this means that beta 4 is going to be the week after the iPhone 16s are in hand. It doesn’t seem to make much sense do beta 3 in preparation for the iPhone 16 only to turn around and release beta 4 before they launch. The only way this makes sense is if they did it for those who are reviewing the phones next week.

Very possible considering the 16 isn't out until the end of next week. That would mean we have approximately another 2 weeks until the next beta.

I agree but it's odd that there would be 4 weeks between betas.

Yea since the 16’s don’t come out until the 20th, that means the earliest they could push out another beta would be the week after that, but that would only be a few days after launch day so I’m sticking tight to Tuesday October 2nd, as ridiculous as it is.

I’m thinking they may do a Beta 3 re-release next week the day after the public release of iOS 18. And make that re-release also be the first 18.1 public beta.

If they have released beta 3 for the iPhone 16, I think that is already indicative that we may not see beta 4 for another two weeks, probably. Although the build is not exactly the same as ours, according to what I have read, it matches the number, but the iPhone 16 version ends in o and ours in e. I would not be surprised if there is a re-release for the current compatible devices today or on Friday to equalize all the builds.
And if in the end it takes them 4 weeks to release beta 4, I maintain that I do not see the urgency to release iOS 18.1 in beta so early if it now turns out that they are not in a hurry to continue advancing. Because Apple could have worked internally on 18.1 and released the beta later with all the progress it had, as it seems it will do now for a month.

They are in a hurry to release iOS 18.1.

The latestwe will see an update is the Monday or or Tuesday after the iPhone 16 launch.

iOS 18.1 Beta 3 being available to devs or reviewers for iPhone 16 doesn't mean they won't release beta 4 between now and phone launch, obviously it'd be for the 16s too.

Whether there will be a beta 4 before launch is something only Apple knows.

That's weird....They would release a phone to the general public loaded with a "Beta"? Or would it be 18.0 with a caveat of "coming this October--- Apple Intelligence"?

That is exactly the caveat. Apple has been pretty clear that Apple Intelligence will be released later. So iPhone 16s will have 18.0 on them at launch.

... in fact if coming from an iPhone with 18.1 beta installed, you will be given the option to install the beta first to allow to copy across or restore from backup.

this is for me the only reason to go that way... allowing 18.1users to setup their new iPhone 16s' migrating their old devices over using their 18.1 backups ... otherwise they would be forced to find - if they saved one - a 18 backup ...

iOS 18.1 B4 - where are you?

Other than the annoying keyboard lag, I haven't had any issues or bugs with 18.1 b3... So I'm not really flipping out about b4..... Also the one AI feature I was waiting for most which was photo erase is working just fine in B3

Considering Siri has stopped working all together for many in Beta 3 in the past 24 hours and stuck on "downloading" I'd say that's a pretty big bug that can't wait a few weeks to fix...

So I guess we won’t see another RC, right? The final release is on Monday. We’ll see if it has a different build number.

I’ve caught a few bugs/glitches regarding dark mode light mode switching back and forth. Sometimes the background wallpaper doesn’t switch the theme, sometimes some app icons remain on light mode while the others switch to dark mode… but I guess all of this is normal, being an n.0.0 release.

Hopefully iOS 18.0.1 and 18.0.2 will come soon during end of September beginning of October.

Yeah there will be another RC only for a major problem. And I wouldn’t be surprised to see 18.0.1 either on September 20 out the following Monday or Tuesday.
