sorry I meant the message is just displaying under my battery tab in my phone... is this a bug or something new with Ios 18?Sorry. I never go into that thread. I started it on WWDC keynote day for @Pearsey

This kinda sucks because nobody else is getting this message. I am now not sure if something is wrong with my phone or if it is a rare bug.Sorry. I never go into that thread. I started it on WWDC keynote day for @Pearsey

seems the closet to that a build was beta 8 (22A5350a) that Apple revised and went with. (August 28)Right. That’s why they’re pushing it out now. Because the phone shipped with the older version.

So the version installed out of the box is more like beta 8, and the update is the RC? I had terrible battery life on the RC on my 14PM, so really not wanting that.
Location Services are essential for many apps to function properly, such as maps, weather, and social media. However, constant access to your location can significantly drain your battery.
Live Activities is a new feature in iOS 18 that provides real-time updates for various apps, such as sports scores, ride-sharing progress, or food delivery status. While this feature is useful, it can also be a significant battery drain. To optimize battery life, consider disabling Live Activities for apps that you don’t need constant updates from. By selectively turning off this feature, you can reduce the background activity that consumes power.
I’m really eager to see the first bug-fix update to iOS 18 just to jump all-in into the new operating systems this year. I love how the bigger icons look without the names, and the new Control Center.
Do you think it will be this week? Or the next one?
Using offline maps doesn’t eliminate the need for gps, just less data. And you might lose live traffic if it’s designed to be completely offline. It's amazing how that always on display that you keep accidentally turning on in your pocket by jostling buttons will drain the newest iPhones. Other hints in this article.
Its well know that 5G uses more energy then 4G/LTE, and particular wifi. Not agreeing with everything like you the article suggests, but like similar articles it has some legit pointers that one can examine and see it if helps with battery life. 🙂Using offline maps doesn’t eliminate the need for gps, just less data. They say to manually update the apps but again turn on automatic updates. How that’s supposed to conserve battery is a mystery to me.
It’s just another clickbait article and nothing specific to iOS 18 either. Wouldn’t be surprised if they said using the iPhone consumes battery so turn it off when not using to conserve battery.
Some of the pointers don’t make sense at all.
The fact that the SDK notes size decreased is great. With the 18.1 beta 3 notes shows an extensive amount fixed, some outstanding, beta 4 notes shows a lot less documentation. Still 18.1 is like a dust devil it just appears when it does then things get moving once more.Week after next is usually the case unless a big bug is found.
We on weekly’s yet do we think?
