No worries! No such thing as too many questions we’re all learning something.

First off I really can’t recommend getting a beta, granted I’m running 18.2 but in your case it might break more than it’d fix. Betas are just iffy like that.

My understanding is it’s supposed better as a version progresses to RC/general release status, but who knows with this rollout! Can’t speak on the 18.1 betas as I’ve gotten them on my old phone that didn’t support Apple Intelligence, but anecdotally it seems to me that whatever battery optimizations there are in the final release, could’ve been added in no matter which beta or RC of said version was being developed. At least the ones we got before Apple Intelligence dropped.

The other thing, again anecdotally, is 18.2 didn’t feel as big a mess as the first betas for 18.0. If you do decide to get on the train, all the caveats apply, but again can’t recommend you to do so in good conscience

Thanks again. I was on the beta train for my iPhone 14 Pro running iOS 18, but I never upgraded to iOS 18.1 because it wasn’t available for non-AI iPhones for a long time. When I got the iPhone 16 Pro, I decided to skip the betas and said I wouldn’t risk it with a new device. However, I never could get the battery life anywhere close to what others were experiencing. The first beta I tried was the 18.1 RC. Since there were no changes, I thought I’d give 18.2 a try with some new features. But guess what? The same battery life issue persisted. It’s quite strange to me.

Well, I have a backup on my Mac of 18.1 RC and the IPSW of 18.1, so I might revert to that version. I appreciate your help and explanation.

Thinking about this further, if Apple discovered a bug that was causing excessive battery drain for certain users’ phones and resolved it between the 18.1 RC release and the full release build, wouldn’t they apply those fixes to the upcoming beta 2 of 18.2?

I understand that betas aren’t primarily designed for battery optimization, but if they identified a bug that resulted in significantly higher battery drain, wouldn’t they also deploy that fix to the beta version, as well?

They probably would! Personally I assumed the worst, as in, bug fixes for all the Apple Intelligence stuff coming in before battery optimizations. At least in earlier betas, that is.

Personally, 15 pro, the only problem I’m having on the beta is the mail app. It’s weird. I have to use the GMAIL app now to get my email. The mail app either locks up, and I have to force close, or I’m not getting emails at all. Then the Gmail app shows everything.

I am having to use iCloud.com to get my emails

two. the Nugget App was just updated to version 4 ... got the new Siri UI working on iPad Pro2, iPhone 12 PM and 14 PM. Works on 18.1 released.
Only a Gimmick (no real AI working) but looks nice 😂

If interested I could write a short guide ...

Everything fully functional like FaceID, FindMy - only caveat (as expected in EU) you need an US AppStore Account and the classical language adaptations. Apple Account can stay a EU ID.

that worked for me on three different, unsupported devices iPad, iPhone 11 PM and iPhone 14 PM - the long download times are annoying but loading other voices seems to speed it up. But be aware ans safe to keep a backup

Enable new Siri UI on unsupported devices

Get the latest version of Nugget-App from Github
• Select a “newer” iPhone Model to spoof
Screenshot 2024-11-01 at 13.42.04.png

  • Load your Gestalt file you have previously created
Screenshot 2024-11-01 at 13.42.23.png

• ⁃ Apply Changes

The device will restart - FaceID will be disabled but you can re-enable it later aswell as FindMy
  • Go to the new Siri menu in settings
  • Wait Apple Intelligence to be downloaded
(if it gets stuck downloading try to load other voices from other languages - seems to give the
    download a kick)
  • Reboot after the download has finished and you get the Intelligence Message

Go back to Nugget App

  • Keep AI enabled, but
  • Disable the Spoofing by selecting “none”
  • Go to Apply, select the Gestalt File again and apply

FaceID should be reenabled after the reboot and Siri still using the new version. If by chance something changes and it says downloading intelligence again, disable FindMy again and repeat the steps above.
