Wouldn't surprise me if there's not another press release officially announcing iOS 18.3 and macOS 15.3 later on highlighting Genmoji on the Mac and updates to Visual Intelligence.

Every release of iOS 18 so far has had a corresponding press release highlighting Apple Intelligence features.

Yeah, Apple’s announcement this morning almost certainly means iOS 18.3 is dropping today, which means hopefully 18.4 beta 1 will follow soon maybe tomorrow? 👍🏻🎉🎊

I would imagine that for the very first 18.4 beta, Apple is not rushing the release day. This one’s is so important, even if we want it ASAP any hiccups is bad press. ;)

I wouldn’t be so sure about 18.3 today. The last 2 years, they announced the unity products and released 16.3 and 17.3 five days later.

They announced them on Wednesdays though. But still, I don’t want people to get their hopes up and be disappointed.

I am not sure it is coming today, because an "upcoming" update means not today for me. I think they would say today if Apple is releasing it today.

The bottom of the strap page calls out iOS and iPadOS 18.3 and watchOS 11.3 specifically.
Where?

  • The Unity Rhythm iPhone and iPad wallpapers will also be available in an upcoming software update, and require iPhone Xs or later, and iPad Pro (M4), 12.9-inch iPad Pro (3rd generation and later), 11-inch iPad Pro (1st generation and later), iPad Air (M2), iPad Air (3rd generation and later), iPad (7th generation and later), or iPad mini (5th generation and later).
EDIT:
found it

** iPhone wallpaper requires iOS 18.3. iPad wallpaper requires iPadOS 18.3. Watch wallpaper requires watchOS 11.3.

;) I like the concrete information on timing :

"According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, Apple Stores are being instructed to update the software on demo devices today, so iOS 18.3 should be released either today or within the next few days."
Gurman no longer wants the blame if his prediction is incorrect so he now avoids exact predictions, hense the next few days. :D

I think the "should be released either today or within the next few days" has been added by MacRumors. Gurman's tweet was much more set on it happening today.

your right, from yesterday’s x post from Gurman
As indicated in the Power On Q&A today, iOS 18.3 is imminent. Retail stores will be instructed to update store demo devices tomorrow - plus conduct training on new Apple Intelligence features.

The RC for 17.3 was released 18th January. They announced the Black Unity products on 17th January. The final was released on 23th January.

This time RC was released way before announcing the Unity products. It’s very likely we get it today.

Two completely different timelines.

Yes, to which I responded early this morning that it was all going to turn on what time tomorrow (now today) this stuff happened. If it was after store hours (as they do with the iPhone), then it would have been Tuesday. Given that it has already occurred, I'm about as confident as I can be that it will be today.

Unity bands are available now, so we can expect 18.3 soon

I’m sure though that they’ve been working on the first betas for 18.4 for several months now. And with 18.3 not really bringing anything new, they likely could allocate more resources to 18.4 development. I don’t see any reason to wait a long time to drop 18.4 beta 1. And considering that 18.4 will likely have the full 8 beta cycle, a beta this week would place a final release in April, and since we already know 18.4 will release to public in April, a first beta this week is fairly plausible. 👍🏻

I never suggested that 18.4 was next week, only doubting Tuesday, versus Wednesday or Thursday. Still speculation. :)

Wednesday and Thursday beta releases are less common than Tuesday releases though. It’s certainly possible, but Apple tends to release Betas on Tuesdays and Mondays so far in the iOS 18 beta cycle. I think there have been only a couple times we got a beta on a Wednesday or Thursday. But maybe I’m remembering incorrectly.
