I like the change in iOS 18 beta where if you get spam call you'll see a small info icon upper right of display where tapping will take you to a contact info form so you can block it as its ringing. We should be seeing dev beta 2 show up on Tuesday Jun 25th or the next day.

Regarding beta 2: past patterns would suggest Wednesday next week. However, I’m going to go out on a limb and say there’s an ok chance of getting it Tuesday (or even Monday). That will provide a longer time on beta 2, especially with what will likely be a 4 day holiday weekend for Apple for Independence Day the following week. Given the relative lack of stuff in beta 1 (relative being the operative term here), this seems feasible.

The big question is when will the Apple Intelligence stuff show up in the betas. My guess is with beta 4, after Public Beta 1 is released. The other interesting question is whether the AI stuff will be limited to the Developer Previews or will the Public Betas get it as well.
LOL. Takes the fun out of speculating when they just out and out tell us in advance!

Just a FYI

But, I wondered, what if you mirrored a Mac that was mirroring an iPhone in the Vision Pro? It seems like the ideal workaround in theory, one that would solve the headset's annoying inability to play nicely with your iPhone. But, unfortunately, it won't work. We've heard from knowledgeable sources that Apple's hardware only supports one of its Continuity mirroring features at the time. So if you're sending your Mac's screen to the Vision Pro, you won't be able to mirror your iPhone at the same time.

I agree, most features won’t be all that useful to the “average user”. Sure there will be more advanced users that will make use of them. I bought into Samsungs marketing hype with the S24 Ultra. The photo stuff was useful, but as an average user I didn’t find much benefit for the rest of the features. As it evolves I’m fairly certain more people will make use of it.
Personally, I think the best AI-centric features will be those that “help” the user without having to put much thought into using them... You just want to do something and find out that there’s something to make that a little easier or produce better results as opposed to want to try some AI feature just because it’s there. I think this is where Apple will distinguish itself from the others.

Still not giving it control of the nuclear launch codes though… see enough versions of Terminator to know that doesn’t end well for humans. There’s no way a sentient AI doesn’t immediately deem us as a threat to the planet after coming online… :D:eek:

You can’t mirror your iPhone on VP. Also, you can’t mirror your iPhone on EU.
I'm still curious, though- If you can mirror your iPhone in macOS, and you can mirror macOS on the Vision Pro, can't you still see your iPhone on the Vision Pro?

The Mac uses Continuity Sharing to show the iPhone screen and also to show the Mac screen on the VP. It can’t do both at the same time.

Hype? It’s literally a comment from an Apple spokesperson.
It's not a quoted comment as it appears on the verge article.

These two paragraphs was typed up by verge not quoted text from Apple spokesperson Fred Sainz that precedes them.

Contacted about Apple’s statement, EU spokesperson Thomas Regnier responded saying, “The EU is an attractive market of 450 million potential users, and has always been open for business for any company that wants to provide services in the European internal market. Gatekeepers are welcome to offer their services in Europe, provided that they comply with our rules aimed at ensuring fair competition.”

What specifically causes the concerns is unclear, but Apple Intelligence alone covers upgrades to Siri, Genmoji, managing notifications, taking scripted actions across different apps, as well as text generation and summaries. Sainz also reiterated that Apple Intelligence will be available for beta testing this summer, while iPhone mirroring and the expanded SharePlay screen sharing features will roll out in a developer beta on Monday.

See thats not a actual quote. ;)

I would be shocked if the Verge got this wrong.

If it was it would be only a day or 2 later. (15/16 days) Last time we had a beta 2 fourteen days after WWDC was iOS 13.0 beta 2.
I know you are putting stock in the fact that it was not a direct quote from the Apple guy but I don’t think a major trade publication, citing a named source, would get this wrong. Just because it’s been 15 or 16 days the last several years does not mean that that is written in stone. I noted a day or so ago why I thought it might come earlier (holiday schedules, the relative lack of features in beta 1, etc)

The relative lack of features is diffidently motivation for Apple to improve upon WWDC seeding impressions as you said and get something out sooner than later that people can talk about. :)

It’s not a direct “quote unquote” from Apple, so you can’t believe and shouldn’t with everything that’s written in the media.

I’d be excited about the “chance” of Monday, but will not be surprised if it doesn’t land and we are still left guessing.

Something conveyed before it happens is always subject to change. Apple development seeding doesn't always occur on predictable schedule. :D

The whole DMA press release was clearly damage control so when the beta drops Monday and the EU don’t get the new features in that beta then Apple have already given a heads up.

I will be very surprised if the Monday beta release doesn’t happen.
