It's more logical for Apple to lock down the iOS 18/iPadOS 18 feature set then bundling a public release with the brand new AI features for hardware that supports that. Even releasing the iPhones 16 with an early beta of AI is not productive for convincing consumers. It has to be as good a marriage as possible for Apple Intelligence to impress people.Installed it without any problems - but no Apple Intelligence 😒
But as the new widgets have evolved, Apple’s old widget system has continued to live on. All the way through iOS 17, you could use legacy widgets as part of your iPhone’s ‘Today’ view. That’s changing in iOS 18, which officially ends support for legacy widgets on your devices and will disable them once installed.

With this, I don’t think you can hold Apple to the objective they set. I’m sure they’re going to do everything they can to hit it but if they have to choose between an incomplete product and holding it up, they’re going to go with holding it up.Apple had already said in beta during the summer
Saying is not what is currently stated online.Apple had already said in beta during the summer
Coming in beta this fall*

They left themselves wiggle room right from the startSaying is not what is currently stated online.![]()
You are misreading that. They said it would be shipped as a beta with iOS 18. iOS 18 will arrive in the fall. So this remains correct.Saying is not what is currently stated online.![]()
Well they said summer before, so I think we all agree seeing is believing. You are misreading that. They said it would be shipped as a beta with iOS 18. iOS 18 will arrive in the fall. So this remains correct.
They never said summer. This is a public facing page and it’s always said fall. Because iOS 18 was always destined to be released in the fall.Well they said summer before, so I think we all agree seeing is believing.![]()

You have to distinguish between the betas we’re on now and Apple Intelligence being released publicly as a work in progress, i.e., as a capital B “Beta”.
Correct. And yes, they’ve left themselves a lot of wiggle room. But they’ve clearly said Apple Intelligence will be in ‘developer beta’ in the summer, in that sense. Yes; they’ll still consider in a Beta when 18 debuts alongside new hardware. They’ve also be vague enough on what features were coming when. Like Siri, parts of new Siri and Apple Intelligence were said to come in a beta “during the summer” with additional features later.
