Looks like we get developer beta 1 of 18.1 this week with intelligence

Bizarre, but this is per Gurman
How stable it will be…..?
I would love to test Apple Intelligence on my daily driver 15 PM, but I am afraid that it won’t run well…
As well it might not available in Europe…?
If not and it is available, but only in US-English, it’s no problem for me…

Or do you think it will be the same build like dev beta 4 but plus Apple Intelligence?

Why would it go beta this week when 18.0 is only on b4 makes no sense
They could treat this as two different testing cycles to accelerate AI testing while allowing the usual advancement of Sept public releases of iOS/IPadOS 18.0/MacOS 15.0, and dev's can optionally get hands on experience with AI at a earlier point of time, with 18.1 seeds. If 17.6 is wrapping up very soon, with a lot of us using 18.0, certainly a 18.0 and 18.1 at the same time is not unlikely.

yeah that’s what i’m thinking

developer beta 18.0 becomes 18.1 more or less; public stays on 18.0…or maybe 18.1 supersedes everything, but i doubt that happening

So they are splitting it off like they did with IOS 16 and the betas. Interesting that they would push out a revised beta to developers on Friday if this was their plan the entire time..

Next week seems a little early, with 17.6 RC, 18 beta 4 for PB testers. With the expected 18.0 beta 5 expected the following week.

Could be 18.1 is for iPhone 15s only?
That seems like it would be a mess. I mean it makes sense if they are the only ones that can get AI but I feel like being in beta you want as many eyes on it as possible, so only releasing it for the 15's seems strange (especially since there is a lot outside of AI new in IOS 18 still needed to be fixed).

As stable as 18 B4 is right now, it’s almost as if they’re about ready to wrap up .0 to start the real testing on .1.

.0 is going to be loaded on iPhone 16s soon I would think.

I guess they will limit iOS 18.1 to devices that will actually be able to support the AI - so currently only iPhone 15 Pros and M1 iPads and newer. All the other devices will stay on iOS 18.0 beta stream.

You mention iOS 18 but you are talking about iOS/IPadOS 18. Then there's the problem of not catering to all the AS Macs out there. Any AS Mac qualifies. ;)

They will get it to the Macs too, the ones that will be able to support it, that is.
