If you want evidence why I think 18.1 beta 2 will be out this week, look no further than this article: https://stocks.apple.com/AZHyOvwsmTACxz6MQicCJQw
And this…So not only Apple…

AI worries

Stocks had also been flying high over the past two years because of big bets on tech companies involved in artificial intelligence: Many hoped that AI would create another global industrial revolution.

But AI profits are basically nonexistent, and the unproven technology isn’t yet ready for prime time. Some fear it’ll never get there. Traders are beginning to unwind big trades on Apple, Nvidia, Microsoft, Meta, Amazon, Alphabet and other tech stocks that had been surging since the beginning of last year.

Warren Buffett — CEO of Berkshire Hathaway and a notoriously calm force when markets go haywire — is also ditching tech. He just sold half of Berkshire’s Apple stake, which is a troubling sign for the health of the tech sector.

If we don’t get 18.1 DB 2 by tomorrow then I’m downgrading to 18.0 DB 5. Don’t wanna be on this beta until October. While AI is cool I don’t really use it that often.
How can one form an opinion based on first 18.1 dev beta with some AI features partially working? Got a lots of months to put up with as it evolves. ;)

It's likely tomorrow, we were just expecting Apple to be more generous today. :D

Wait, so you’re basically jumping from 18.0-b4 to 18.1-b1 to 18.0-b5 to potentially 18.1-b2? It’s going to be a fun summer LOL
I’m already on 18.1 DB 1, but if I downgraded to 18.0 DB 5, I’d stay on it until the public release of 18.1.

That’s only if there’s not a new 18.1 DB tomorrow lol

Might see a PB of beta 5 tmr, while the folks on 18.1 might have to wait till next week
This whole cycle has been a mess. You would think apple would want to keep the betas (especially with AI) coming more frequently (or at least in the same amount) as the non-AI infused betas.

I translate an article published in Spain, on the subject of Apple's AI "Let's remember that Apple Intelligence, the artificial intelligence (AI) system of the bitten apple company, was officially presented at the last WWDC (Apple World Conference of Developers), with the purpose of taking the operation of its devices to the next level, thus managing to offer novelties that, so far, have not been included in any device of the American brand. However, this announcement has brought with it certain restrictions that have only generated anger. Its poor compatibility with past models of the iPhone and its non-arrival in countries such as Spain, have been two of the factors related to Apple Intelligence that have generated the most dislikes, because thanks to these limitations, fewer and fewer users will be able to enjoy the novelties offered by that AI system. However, everything seems to indicate that the second aspect would be close to changing.
Main points of the agreement
Having equal competition within the artificial intelligence market as a central point, the agreement signed between this group of nations aims to ensure that this type of tool does not excuse its lack of interoperability with sacrifices in the field of privacy and security; ensure that users have a variety of fair options when choosing which AI model they want to use; and prevent developers from employing questionable tactics to displace their competitors from the market.

"(...) We will work to guarantee effective competition and fair and honest treatment of consumers and companies," reads the statement issued by the spokesmen of the nations involved, in which they reaffirm their commitment to the protection, above all, of the user and their rights, before systems such as Apple Intelligence.

This means that we will have it soon!!! 👍👍😎😎
It has been published in Meca2 for Jonathan Tangarife

Why would they? The AI one isn’t attached to any release yet, while we know the non-AI one needs to be finalized soon to be shipped with the new phones. Don’t see anything messy about it. Sticking for the most parts to Monday releases, etc.

I just don't understand why they can't roll it all into 1. Like clearly 18.1 was just 18.0 B4 with the AI stuff switched on. Why not keep it that way and just keep the AI stuff off for those without the hardware to support it? Then you are still getting the beta tested and bugs reported while also getting the AI stuff ironed out as well. Just seems like it would be easier on Apple's part to have 1 beta stream instead of 2. (especially for the fact that by splitting it into two you are limiting the number of beta testers for each).

Haven't most .1 cycles been on a weekly beta rotation? Either way fingers crossed for something releasing today alongside the public beta's.
Good point. I really do think we see it today. Last week they released it alongside the 18.0 betas on Monday because they had to get it out and in people’s hands ahead of their earnings / analyst call on Thursday. That pressure is off now, which is why beta 2 may not have dropped yesterday.

I remain convinced that this is going to be released publicly either instead of 18.0 (development of which remains ongoing, but that could be explained by the need to get thedeveloper facing features finalized, with the two prongs of the fork being merged at ship time) or within 7-10 days after 18.0 ships, so by 30 September.

I think if it were “easier on Apple’s part” to roll them into one, they would have done so.

So one asks, “Why mightn’t they have done this?”

One, they wanted it distinct to demonstrate it to the investment world that its out there. Secondly, they wanted to be sure they were not holding up the iOS build that needs to go on the newly built iPhones beginning in a few weeks. This method ensures that a mature 18.0 is available for the new phones and the AI features get an addtional 2-4 weeks of development.

I really don’t think they care that much about the beta feedback on the AI stuff. It’s nice to have but the key thing was demonstrating prior to the earnings conference call that it was alive and in existence. Who know’s also, what impact the Berkshire Hathaway stock dump may have had on the decision when to release the first beta. Probably not much but you never know.

Clearly it didn't do a ton for the faith by investors since they lost a ton of value (even not looking at the Berkshire Hathaway dump).
