I'm testing it on a 13 Pro Max.

In general, it feels far in fluidity to iOS 18 (which is what I have in my iPhone 15 Pro Max), but it goes better than right after the update and is "usable".

I really like the new design and I really like the transparencies. The control center is terrible and I think they have to give it a spin ASAP.

I find the system more coherent now than with iOS 18.

There is still a long way to go, but I really like what you see in this beta 1 and I want to see it in September polished and fine.

Battery life still very rough the next morning. Lost 15% in one hour. First time having battery anxiety on a 16 Pro Max with 100% battery health.

What did you expect from a very first beta? Over all these years that I’ve been with Apple, there hasn’t been a single one of these early betas without battery issues. That’s part of the early testing process.

Apologies if anyone has pointed these out-if they did, I missed it.

The standard flash light icon when off looks like the previous versions on state.

In the mail app, the "connecting/checking/downloading" message is up top under the mailbox name.

Overall, I'm liking the new look quite a bit. Maybe it's just nice to have a different UI to interact with.

My phone has been heating up a lot more than normal. It won't charge past 80% while charging in my car because it's too hot.

The new all in one phone app is going to take some getting used to, but I could learn to like it. I'm glad the phone icon is back so you can tap on a name and see the details without initiating a call. This was in the early 18 betas and they changed it back to the old way. I hope they leave that like it is.

The depth to some of the Apple icons is quite striking. Maps especially stands out for that.

I was worried about the readability with all the translucency, but it hasn't been bad at all.

Nightstand/Standby mode (or whatever it’s called) for iPhone (16 Pro Max); clock widget will stop periodically; last two times I caught it after an hour or so of not updating, so time was off by about 55 minutes (only in Standby mode; phone time was accurate everywhere else)

I have that and the weather widget; can’t tell if that one is frozen unfortunately, since Apple’s weather and widgets are too often inaccurate and unreliable.

I have that same glitch on my 16 Pro. Mine was two hours behind this morning. Alarm still went off at the correct time though, so nothing more than a minor nuisance.

Everything else has been remarkably good. Yes, it was glitchy and laggy for the first few hours, but that went away. Even my battery life seemed unaffected today, which is a shocker for a Beta.

Is anyone experiencing an issue when opening tabs in background in safari?

Everytime I open a tab in the the background it just freezes and I have to force quit and reopen Safari…

Have rebooted a few times and running on my 15 Pro Max.

Yes, same here. Was just about to ask this as well. Glad to know it’s not just me

One bug I’m experiencing, I’m not sure if anyone else is also noticing, is making HomeKit requests via Siri.

The request will actually go through and take place in my house, however Siri’s response will only be “sorry, _____ is taking a while to respond” without ever giving an on-device confirmation that the action took place. This is not a huge issue if I’m home and can see for myself that a light shut off, or my door is locked, but if I’m not home that’s a different story entirely.

After a full day, the only issue I’ve run into is sometimes Safari gets stuck loading a webpage and the only fix is a force close and reopen. Little stutter here and there but not too bad. Battery watch a little worse but hasn’t been a full day just yet anyway

Testing on my main device which was admittedly dumb lol I have a 15 Pro Max and so far so good.

Was very jittery and laggy at first after the update but within an hour after that it had smoothed out tremendously and has been as good as you're going to get on a first developer beta.

Really digging the design now. I wasn't sure I'd like it but it's grown on me alot now that I have my hands on it. The dark glass and clear glass are both awesome depending on the wallpaper.

One thing I have not figured out is how to get the lock screen time to dynamically adjust, I do have the new font/time applied and it still wont dynamically adjust to the wallpaper.

Got the AirPods Firmware.... turns out I was on the Apple Seed feed, changing to the developer feed turned on the option on the AirPods. Neat!

Glad to see Order Tracking in Wallet expanded. The "Orders Found In Mail" was turned off by default, but already picked up on an Amazon order from today. Hoping they will add a manual option to track outbound packages. I currently use Parcel.app since Deliveries.app was slowly losing support for various carriers, but this could easily Sherlock those...

This clear dark option is awesome!

It's nice, but sometimes things can be harder to read IMO. It's also harder to recognize some icons at a short glance, since there is no more colour.

Also, the macOS-like design elements feel a bit weird at times, not quite completely integrated yet. I'll have to reassess after a few weeks (and a few more betas).

Friendly reminder - This the first developer beta of an entire redesign.
Yup!

How did you get the time (clock) that big?

Just installed on my 16PM and it’s really nice. I don’t get all the negative fuss regarding liquid glass. Looks great IMO especially considering this is beta 1.

So far every app I’ve tried is working fine and haven’t seen anything unusual. I imagine tomorrow it should be running smoother than now which really isn’t that bad at all.
