Emily Ratajkowski

I hope this is the right place to post this. I'm wondering if I accidentally discovered an Easter egg. I was copying/pasting the name Emily Ratajkowski to find out her claim to fame after reading she was "the new It girl." I accidentally chose "speak" at some point in the process, and to my surprise, her name was pronounced seemingly flawlessly in the proper accent (sounded Russian to me, but apparently it's Polish). I then assumed this was a new feature of IOS7, but I tried it with other words and names and it didn't work. So I guess some Apple programmer who is a fan must've programmed this in ... Amiright?

P.S. to get the "Speak" menu option, you need to set speak selection on by going to settings > general > accessibility > speak selection > "on".

Maybe…
When I went to that menu I saw these language options for picking different voices for different languages. My guess is just that it recognizes the language and says it in the proper accent.

I just noticed something new. In iOS 6, when you dragged up the camera icon from the lock screen, the whole screen, including the wallpaper, would move up. In iOS 7, the wallpaper no longer moves. The "slide to unlock" text and the time and whatever other text you have on your lock screen moves, but the wallpaper stays put except for parallax.

Yep..stays on theme with the whole "the background is always there so you can see through the other screens and see it" stuff.

Pulling Camera back down?

Anyone notice if you use the camera from the lock screen, there isn't a way to pull down to get back to your lock screen? The only way out of this now is to lock the device with the sleep/wake button.

Does anyone think this will be fixed?

It makes me not want to use the camera from that way since now I have to push the lock button after. I know I'm crazy for complaining about something like that, but I feel like the less the user is having to reach around the device to interact with it, the more pleasurable of an experience.

Like you said, hit the sleep button.

Pulling down will bring up the today view and swiping up will bring up the control panel. How would you get out of the camera app if you WEREN'T on the lock screen?

Edit: Actually, just hit the home button...brings you back to the lock screen.

In iOS 6, if you pulled back down from the top, it would pull down the lock screen just as when you pushed up out of the way to use the camera, which was then just easier to put back in your pocket. You never had to deal with a psychical button except to turn the device on initially.

My comment specifically is about the lock screen so how would you get out of the camera with out being on the lock screen is irrelevant.

PS. My iPhone has no lock, therefore it doesn't actually go back to the lock screen once camera is opened from the lock screen.

It's something that was changed as part of iOS 7's design. Not likely that it's seen as a bug really, so not likely it would be changed from that point of view (but of course it might get changed at some point just as part of some design improvements or redesign).

Again..not sure why hitting the home button is any different than swiping it back down? It's not like you're saving a step either way.

Also...I think I mentioned this earlier...the design of iOS 7 has you bring up the app OVER the lock screen. You return to it or the home screen like you would on any other app...press the home button.

...and, don't confuse the home button with the lock/sleep button. Since the home button is right there, you do not "reach around" to get back out of the app.

Well, use of a physical button is some wear and tear on it, while a simple touch gesture is just that. In general neither method presents an issue really, but for some the buttons have been known to start working worse over time and sometimes just plain break, so at least from that point of view a decrease in their use when it can be easily avoided is at least not a bad idea, and can even be a good one.

Sorry if this is the wrong place, but guessing those in this thread will know.

In Today view, can you change the stocks green/red markers to be % change rather than what it is by default (I think it's market cap).

I can't see any option.
Thanks

Also (not sure if mentioned) but in iOS 7 your phone cant lock you out when you have put your phone's passcode incorrectly a certain number of times like in iOS 6

Sure it can, that functionality is still there.

Well not for me O.O i seriously tried many times and it never worked

Nvm it worked...more times than I remembered but it worked
It works when different passcodes are attempted--same ones are not counted more than once since they are the same.

Tap on the market cap :) there are several options.

Siri and Reminders

I don't believe this was in iOS6 and I don't think this has been mentioned on t his forum but I came across something interesting today.

If you ask Siri to create a reminder to call someone from your contact list Siri will then show a list of phone numbers for that person and you can select one. Then when the reminder is due the reminder has the word "Call" underlined so you can click on Call and it will dial the number for you saving you a trip to contacts!

I love it..a great efficient add!
