Hope I am not repeating this info (I can only read so many pages of this thread in one day)...
I have heard some with concerns that having the auto-updates enabled would be bad because you wouldn't know what was updated and you wouldn't know what new features there were with the App. I also had this concern somewhat.
However, if you look in your notification center every once in a while under the "all" tab (assuming you have App Store notifications turned on), it tells you what Apps were updated and when. If you click on any of the updates, it redirects you to the App Store and you can view the details of the update, so you know what changed.
