The dock has the same level of blur if that's what you mean.

So the dock isn't colored? I thought I saw screen shots where the dock was colored/tinted based on the wallpaper. But maybe I'm just imagining things. Do you have a screen shot you can post?

IOS7.... Fantastic features and interface interactivity! Love the translucent overlays etc.

Icon colors and design need improvement..
The 3d gradation/ highlighted look of the old ios look more polished ( pun intended) and professional.... Including the text messaging windows...

I believe apple is listening to all this ... And the final version will kick but where it falls short now !

Also remember... FaceTime Audio calls, FaceTime videos, and iMessages are secure communication - they're ENCRYPTED! (YAY!) Can anyone say N-S-A.

I would not trust FaceTime and iMessage to be secure against the NSA. I don't believe Apple has ever said it is end-to-end encryption where only the destination can decrypt the message. (Not saying it isn't end-to-end encryption, but without evidence that it is I wouldn't trust it if you need that level of protection.)

It's FaceTime Audio (no video). It shouldn't use that much data.
It's still more data than a voice call, and if I'm only paying for 200 megs a month I don't want to use it when I have minutes available unless I'm on wifi.

(I'm actually not on the 200 meg plan anymore, but I'm sure plenty of people are)

Actually iMessage, FaceTime, and FaceTime Audio are encrypted end-to-end with "independent unique session keys" and are HIPAA compliant per regulation.

In other words. It is extremely secure.

If the email is text only or small attachments it happens pretty fast... The issue comes when you have huge attachments and/or slow network...

Does anyone have experience of how to resolve this issue, especially with Microsoft Exchange at work? Would an MDM system help?

As an update to everyone, we were discussing how when forwarding emails with large attachments on iOS, you often have to wait for the forwarded email to download and upload the attachments. If the attachments are large, when the forwarded email opens up, it shows "Loading", and you cannot type anything into the main text message body. You also have to wait for the attachments to down/upload before being able to send the email.

Broadcom's BCM4334 WiFi controller is used in the iPad 4, iPad mini, and iPhone 5. The iPad 3 uses the BCM4330. Check this link.

So the BCM4334 can maintain a regular wifi connection on one band, while using the unused band for wifi direct. The BCM4330 isn't capable of that, and that's probably why Apple doesn't allow AirDrop on it. They don't want your iPad to lose its network connectivity while AirDropping files to someone else.

So Apple's reasons probably aren't just to "make users upgrade." And, BTW, the article linked above's speculations on the uses of the new wifi chip proved prescient.

Than you for the explanation. I'm surprised Apple doesn't explain their reasoning for what hardware gets what features, it's very easy to jump to the conclusion that it's planned obsolesce when one sees the iPad Mini, basically the iPad 2 getting features the iPad 3 isn't. The WiFi chip isnt really something your average consumer would be aware about.

Yes they are, look at the navigation folder in the screenshot. You can see through it.
Oh you're right. It's not a Gaussian blur though. It's just slightly transparent. I didn't notice it until I invoked search.

Man, I am falling in love with this UI. There are so many layers and different uses of design. It's truly fantastic! So much to discover.

Heck, I just found another. When multitasking and you tap on an app that has changed in the background, like music, when zooming into the app it doesn't just cut to the updated UI, it fades it in. Very nice.

2 days in and I can say that this is the most complex UI Apple has ever created and, in my opinion, the best.

Notes syncs perfectly with my notes on Outlook (Microsoft Exchange). First time I've seen this! Very happy.

I must admit the translucent effect is really nice and pleasing on the eyes. It's like taking a shower in ice cold water and drinking it after running a marathon. Real smooth.

I don't know exactly why, but I feel real fresh just looking at it.

(At least for the translucent effect on a white background)

The motion on the home where you can peek behind the icons can be turned off.

Go to Settings, general, accessibility, turn on reduce motion.

I assume you tagged me by mistake... :p

Not that I know of... Unless Apple manages attachments at their end I think this is the only way...
