I will be able to tell you that as soon as it is done restoring. I figured it would be a good idea since it was previously jailbroken and that can impact performance.
I have updated it successfully. I have an iPad mini at hand.
Overall performance is just OK, but it is not so awesome as we might wish.

So what you're saying, is that there are some instances of lag, it runs well overall??

I would guess some lag is to be expected given this is beta 1…
Sorry to use this way for expressing.
Overall performance is OK, but just OK. Still laggy in some circumstances. For example, if you drag down in home screen to pop up spotlight search, you will need to wait more than 1s to start typing because keyboard does not show up in time.
App switch is a little bit laggy, but fine.
I didn't test it much. I just updated this firmware minutes ago.

These are VoiceOver voice options, not Siri. Access it in Settings -> General -> Accessibility -> VoiceOver -> Speech -> Default Dialect.

The only real change is that you can now use the local Siri voices for VoiceOver. Otherwise, they've just given the default VoiceOver voices names.
Strangely enough, switching between Samantha and Siri Female did produce different voices when using Siri. Samantha seemed more clear and fluid when using Siri.

So its slower than iOS 8??

A bit of a let down if that is the end result given they were apparently optimising especially for A5 devices (and they've chosen yet again to keep the Mini 1 and Touch 5 around for longer)

Can anyone verify whether Mail finally has a share button? Why all programs got a share button except Mail is beyond me

We cannot simply confirm this because this is still a beta software. it also slows down iPhone 6 plus as well a little bit, to some extent. Looks like the only device can run iOS 9 flawlessly is iPad air 2.
Apple may do some further optimisation for old devices.
And A5 devices will not support more new features than A6 devices, I guess.

No share button for Mail.
I mean, you still cannot share your mail to other apps.

Newsstand app has bee removed from iOS 9, and all your previous newsstand apps will be automatically moved to a folder named "newsstand". you can find out your apps in that folder.

What if the app icon is a magazine or newspaper front page? Could you post a screenshot?

I am sorry but I have already updated all my iOS 8 devices to iOS 9. However, you can see the screenshot from Apple site in here.

The newsstand app icon is at the right side of iTunes store icon. That app is the one deleted from iOS 9.
Not sure if those apps will be categorised as something else in the future.

When you check notification centre widgets, there are two traffic conditions widgets. If you click either one of them, springboard will crash, and restore.
Smart List artwork on iOS 9 has been fixed! Now it will show random 4 artworks in artwork area rather than an ugly gear icon. If you have less than 3 different artworks of your songs, you will see the first one on your playlist item. Unfortunately, this should update all across the music app, but current beta does not, except you restart music app.
However, you still can only see a gear icon in playlists list.

Handoff feature seems not fully available in this beta, and it may not work properly.

That sucks. The very least they could do was provide the option for the low power mode to automatically turn on when it reaches a certain percentage.

It does. In the 20% low power prompt, there is a button to enter low power mode.

In 18 minutes, iOS 9 used 11% of my battery. 6½ hours later without use, the battery fell 37%! As a curiosity, I activated battery saving....

Really bad news.
I suggest anyone holding old A5 and A6 devices users do not expect significant performance optimisation from iOS 9. Beta 1 nearly destroys iPad mini. I am afraid it might destroy all non air iPad as well.

I am going to restore it back to 8.4 tomorrow. The battery is horrible and my wifi keeps on dropping

I agree. You would better revert back to iOS 8.4 beta. As least that beta software works fine. Battery issue is intolerable.

Sorry to call you out on this, but this is pre-release software, a beta, and a beta 1 to top it all off. There is no way one can make this conclusion and be confident about it while saying it.

Now, if we come to September/October and the performance is still similarly lackluster...feel free to flame me back. But this is totally unwarranted IMHO.

The battery life usually takes a couple days to stabilize, especially when iOS 9 now has an expanded index to build for Siri/Spotlight. It takes several hours to finish the index from what I've seen.
