Don't know if this has been pointed out, but finally there's the option to "disconnect" a bluetooth device, so useful because when I get to the office my Mini Jambox always connects to both my Mac and my iPhone.

Speaking of the News app. I'm in Canada and don't have it available. Are there any negative side effects to changing the phones region to US? Would be nice to check out the News app for at least a bit.

Anyone having issues with news app ??? I'm on beta 4 and I can't get the App to work

News app has been superb for me in beta 4. Beta 3's version had it crashing.

Under Settings>News, is the toggle on for News 93.2? Maybe this makes the difference. Or could try restarting your device

What does the 93.2 mean?

Not a clue. I assume it's a News app version? I had it off and restarted my phone and the app froze quite a bit. Turned it back on, rebooted and it's been working great. It even updates the feed automatically.

The news app worked great for me yesterday on beta 4 and this morning it worked but it wouldn't open this afternoon and tonight it opens but then force closes. Are they working on it?

What a buggy buggy release! Its several times worser than Beta 3. They have completely taken a step backwards! Messenger hangs, you cant send photos either from messenger or whatsapp, plus none of the issues from beta 3 are solved!

Agreed. With my iPhone 6plus I'm definitely seeing more lag when opening and closing apps, seen issues with email app not responding in the middle of composing emails, and the lack of responsiveness with touch screen.

On the plus side, News is starting to work better.

I thought version at first as well but that doesn't make since because the number is so high and that wouldn't be a toggle. It's interesting.

It would be amusing if they tried 92 other versions before they decided on this one. But you're right. I just can't think of what it means and why it makes a difference.

Well the app is brand new and in its own beta within the iOS 9 beta. It's possible they are testing something in it (because a lot saw tons of crashing in the first version) and allowing the user (for beta purposes) toggle between first version and new (to test a possible fix)

As always, be sure to report any and all bugs to bugreport.apple.com (a developer account is not required to do this)

Previous threads:
beta 1 beta 2 beta 3

Build: 13A4305g

Issues:
  • Continuity does not work within the App Switcher, but does on the lock screen (Confirmed by Apple).
  • Start Station in Apple Music removed from songs and albums. Can now only be found on Artists that are already in "My Library". (Now a speaker icon instead of text from the (...) menu. May be transitioning this to other sections, but the beta was released before it was implemented on the sections it was removed from?
  • Closing spotlight will cause the full proactive menu to flicker in for a split second
  • Attempting to change any tone except phone call one will crash the Settings app
  • Some apps only support landscape mode will go to portrait mode with shrink view, and app will not work properly, when the phone is in portrait mode, whether rotation lock is on or off.
  • When listening to music, as long as a new mail coming in, music will lower its volume twice or more before notification sound starts playing.
  • When using Apple music and asking to play let's say "best songs of X year" the radio/playlist is started but stays stuck at the first song. (Repeat is not On and skipping doesnt work)
  • Adding a song to a playlist still doesnt work for me. (Apply to Apple Music. local playback is fine)
  • Safari interface will become completely black when using handoff, even without status bar. This happens once only, until now.
  • Phone app always opens on Keypad before quickly fading to last selected tab.

Changes:

  • Stuttering in the App Switcher is gone
  • News App doesn't crash on opening
  • Alignment issues with the top status bar have been fixed.
  • Battery icon in Settings has restored to normal.
  • The notification icon is now red.
  • Search has redesigned icons, as well as a continue button to dismiss the prompt.
  • Handoff is shown as a bar at the bottom of the multitasking center.
  • New option for News 93.2 in the settings > News section
  • Keychain auto fill option on iPad keyboards is back.
  • Misaligned search suggestion bar has been fixed (eg when using YouTube app)
  • Delayed status bar when going to home screen has been fixed.
  • Volume button takes photos again
  • Text in Weather app is no longer cropped
  • Icons in the share sheet are now not as spread out as before on iPhone 5 and 4S
  • Ability to access iCloud Notes without upgrading, essential for those with non 10.11 Macs
  • The video play button (as seen on embedded movies on websites) is now translucent instead of white
  • Mobile data usage for music downloads and streaming can be toggled separately now, rather than having to use one setting for all iTunes and App Store downloads
  • Apple Music now can be correctly capitalised when typing using integrated keyboard, in this beta.
  • Regained ability to change description and artwork for Playlists in Music.
  • Subject lines in Mail have been aggressively enlarged on iPad. (iPhone?)
  • EE UK Wi-fi calling works again.
  • In Apple Music, the ... (More Options) on tracks shows bigger album art with options to fave and share.
  • When searching in the App Store and you tap on one of the search suggestions, there seems to be a new back button to return to your previous search. Not known if this was there before, but seems new to me. Screenshot here
I don't know if this is new or if I missed it in 8: If you get an email with a PDF attached you can annotate, edit and sign it and send it back. To do this open the PDF in the lower right corner is a tool box icon. That opens the editing tool. It has a "freehand" tool for highlighting in multiple colors and thicknesses, a text typing tool and a resizable signature tool. Once you're done editing it puts in in a response email addressed to the individual tat sent it to you. I really like this...very handy for work.

It's been a step forward for most people and a lot of things from beta 3 have been fixed.

Messages app doesn't hang at all for me and photos send just fine ( sent one not too long ago.)

As for whatsapp. That's 3rd party. Typically when 3rd party apps break in a brand new OS release its up to that 3 party app maker to fix it. (Because things can change in the OS when there is a new version.)

What phone are you using? Did you do an upgrade or fresh install? On my 6+ it's pretty bad*. I don't have anything good to say about it right now, but I'm going to try a fresh install.

*Safari is pretty much useless.

I'm using iPhone 6. And I did OTA. I have done OTA only since pretty much it was introduced. It's been years since I plugged into iTunes for a fresh install and I never have any of the issues some people seem to get. I personally think OTA vs fresh install is imaginary and just a placebo (just like repairing permissions on a Mac was)

Has anyone noticed that if you open a link in the background in Safari, the animation no longer moves to the bottom right corner (tabs). Instead it moves to the top left.
By design or bug?
