I, too, am just about done with these beta threads. Let's assume, for the sake of argument, that the OS stutters or lags a little bit: who cares? Who gave you a right to expect absolute perfection (as you judge it) at all times?

Aaaa...Apple, Apple gave us the right.

I noticed this too on my end. I have TWC's 100mbps services coupled with an all-in-one router with the wifi turned off coupled with an Airport Extreme (older flat model). on 5ghz our service flies. 2.4ghz...not so much. I've done everything with changing the channels and putting it in an optimal position in the middle of the house. Again, the 5ghz network is incredible and the 2.4ghz is just not. I understand the reasons why, but my iOS devices (mainly just my 6) would drop off the 5ghz network even with full bars. It was uncanny. Hopefully this new update addresses this?

I've just gotten rid of my Canadian provider "eastlink" their all-in-one cable box/modem on my wife's iPhone, my iPhone, my daughters iPod all running 9.2 the wifi dropped constantly both 5GHz and 2.4GHz I thought it was just an issue with my provider. I called and demanded I receive a modem and a cable box separately and haven't had the issue since

So I take it you are one of those poor souls still on a iPhone 4s? If so I feel your pain. On other hand "my family" is currently running everything from an iPhone 5 to a 5s to a couple of 6 and now also a 6s and a 6s Plus. All are running iOS 9.2 with the exception of my personal 6s Plus which is now running iOS 9.2.1 Beta 2. The whole fleet is running perfectly with nary a complaint. The difference of course are the dependencies based on hardware, eg 3D touch, etc. For those that continually complain of supposed perceived lag/stutter, why are you still here complaining? Go get yourself a handy dandy Android and you'll never look back! Just check out those forums! Will keep you entertained for years! lol
No I actually have an iPhone 6s Plus, and pertaining to "moved on" meaning another forum. I just use this one when I am bored. And don't really offer help or things of that nature here anymore.

It looks like the 3D Touch animation while in landscape mode has been fixed. I have the iPhone 6s Plus. Nvm, it's still lagging. For some reasons, yesterday was very smooth.

I think the lag debate has been beaten to death. Can we move on from that topic, its been going on in every beta thread and has not been resolved. Face the facts, there are some who staunchly say its an issue, and others who staunchly say its not. There will be no convincing and arguing about it does no good, so can we just move on.

iPhone 6 plus running 9.2.1 - I have reduce transparency on and I've noticed modest improvements compared to 9.2. Opening apps and animations are smoother. Overall IOS 9 is improving with each update.

For me the stutters are real on every single device I've tested(my 6, friends 6's, apple store's 6/6s, iPad air 1 and 2, iPad mini 2). I've just stopped caring as much as there is no point. It has gotten better overall with 9.2.1 and app switcher stutter is almost gone which bothered me the most. iOS 9 feels like a jailbroken device running a heavy theme. Still won't buy anything else though. :)

And I and none of my friends have any stutter or delay, etc. in any of those areas also on a variety of devices

"Focus on" is not the same thing as saying you've attained it. AFAIK, they've never made that claim.

Performance in the Music app has improved some in this build. Tapping in and out of an artist can still be a messy animation but it's not every time. Lots of room to still make it better but it's at least getting better.

Does the "Albums/Songs" text beneath Artist names still flicker, usually between screen swipes? That's something I've noticed on 9.2 and while subtle, is really irritating.

When people say they're perfectionists, it means they are trying to be perfect. It does not mean they have actually achieved being perfect.

They clearly haven't. What's your point? Anyone can then say they're perfectionists.

Oh yeah, about that, how is the music app? How much worse in terms of stutter is compared to 8.4.1?

The point? Merely to show that the screenshot from their careers page does not prove they overpromised.
Not to mention that it's all essentially marketing material. There's little out there that lives up to marketing material no matter what product, service, or company we are talking about. It's nothing new or surprising really.

This is a really bad precedent to set. Expect the same from Apple that we would from one of their pathetic competitors?

Apple products used to live up to the marketing. The products used to be known for "selling themselves" and not needing any misleading advertising, let alone any advertising at all. Today, I can think of a certain wrist-worn device that has not had its sales numbers released and needs to be promoted on the home screen of a certain phone with an OS that was supposed to be a major performance update, but wasn't.

Now for anyone who doesn't want to see Apple admit any wrongdoing, of course the appropriate solution is no solution and what really needs to happen is that someone needs to make excuses for Apple. "Everyone else does it! It's unavoidable! Except that they were fine not doing it before!"

There is no precedent to set, it's been around for ages already in most aspects of life. Simply living in reality. But in any case, it's unrelated to the topic of this thread, and has been talked about in other threads that deal with it.

Lol you always love to call it "reality" even after I point out the actual reality which is that Apple was fine not doing these things before.

Pretty sure they always had marketing about all kinds of things that was beyond the reality of those things, as basically practically all marketing goes. I'm sure others nitpicked them over it as well, but they didn't affect many others who weren't using those products or didn't notice those things, but once it affects someone and is new to them they then see it as something new or surprising even if it's not and is simply just something that they hadn't really faced or cared much about before.

Good to know. I'm an Apple Music user so its nice to hear its better. Its pretty solid on the phone but certain glitchy areas on iPad that annoy the hell out of me like misaligned text and weird stuttering when scrolling in album art view.

You're extrapolating by saying people like me expect the software to be perfect.

But I'm not the one at WWDC who said Metal would make animations 1.6 times smoother. I'm the one who saw it actually get less smooth and objective measurements support what I saw. So you can say they can be imperfect all day long, but don't say nothing they said was false.

And if nobody's allowed to talk about performance anymore, that's fine. I can talk about bugs too.

https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLVQFi5tAhOgeBCheLWnovZExMXFRhQnu-

You'd think from 9.0 to 9.2, they'd be able to fix at least one of these. That would be reasonable. That might even be something a perfectionist would do.

Never said anything about you, I said "people", and there are a couple of people with this specific expectation…

"1.6x improvement in animations and scrolling", not 1.6x smoother.
Some forum-goers said Control Center scrolling used to be 60fps on 8.4.1, so going by "smoother", what is the expected result? 96fps?
Improvement can mean so many things in this context—CPU usage, energy efficiency, etc. (or a combination)
Also, Metal did improve graphics performance in e.g. games.

Bugs? Feel free to add them to the wiki on the first post. Thanks.

Whose to say they never tried fixing it?
