Long tapping the Reload button in Safari View Controller now gives options to Reload Without Content Blockers and Request Desktop Site, like in Safari. not new in 9.2. According to Release Notes it is. works also in 9.1

No it wasn't. This is about Safari View Controller, not Safari itself. 9.2 beta added the ability to long press in Safari View Controller. This did not exist in 9.1

For instance, in 9.1, test out opening a link in Tweetbot (this opens the link with the Safari View Controller) and then long press the reload button. It doesn't do anything. 9.2 added this ability.

On my 5S iOS 9.1, I get stutter if I bring up control center. I comes up smoothly but once it has slid past 50% of the screen, it starts to drop frames. But if I slide it up fast, then it comes up at 15-20 fps. Looks horrible and androidy.

Is this specific scenario fixed?

I don't expect them to fix app switcher stutter in any of the devices. That smoothness of 60 fps is reserved only for iPad Pro.

Every year they will purposely leave 1-2 animations stuttery. That gives us something to look forward to next year's iOS release. Like the weather app.

Wow, I did not notice that before. First %50 part of CC is silky smooth but when you pull up other half of it, frame rate drops 10-15. What is the real problem here? Insufficient ram/hardware power or poorly optimized ios???

Potentially, although I've seen some people who saw lag report no longer seeing it in some places with a new update, while others who also saw it would continue seeing it with the same update.

I don't mean that there's no point in discussing it, just that often enough it all needs to be taken with a grain (or quite a few grains) of salt.

I think you're one of the reasonable voices who can highlight valid points from different perspectives regarding everything on these forums, however (don't take this the wrong way), what I don't understand is why you keep insisting on re-iterating the argument that some may not perceive lag when we in a different thread (with you) pretty much reached a consensus that there's is perceivable lag? Some just simply decide to ignore it, while others don't pay that much attention to it.

What we did "establish" though is that there is an issue. Why not let this be a ground for those who do care enough about this issue? I'm not trying to be disrespectful or somehow discredit your point, but do you see where I'm going with this?

Although, you certainly have a point about the inconsistencies of people claiming to see lag and later on reporting not seeing it at all, when some perceive no difference. This whole "lag/stutter" debacle is certainly a mess from all angles.

Regarding the lag. There was no gaussian blur in the multitasking/app switcher menu in iOS 8, which there is in iOS 9. The power behind the 6, 6S (maybe even the 5S) would make you think that's enough to run the blur without issues. Gaussian blur can be demanding, but I can't imagine the graphical horsepower in these devices not being enough to run the UI animations smoothly.

Performance improvements/issues

Are you kidding me Apple?

You realize that's OP's change log to fill in with people's experiences, and not Apple's or anything official. Betas generally never disclose performance improvements or issues in the notes.

Would it make sense to start a post all about lag. That way it's all in one place instead of being on every available post possible.... Even when we talking about battery life in a post it turns into a lg post.

Just a suggestion let it have its own post.

Well, what I meant by what I said was in reference to people checking if it's there for them or not. Sure, we've established that stutters occur, we've also established that, as you mentioned, plenty of people don't even really see them, and many of those that do essentially ignore them. So, from the point of view of asking people about them, whether or not the lag actually exists for everyone or not, the responses will come from those people's perception of it, meaning that various people can still say that there isn't any when there might still be for someone else.

Again, my point was not to say it's not worthy of discussion, as I mentioned earlier, but that discussions are still based on perceptions and those still differ so various answers to those types of questions might not really be something that will hold up for everyone necessarily. The subjective nature of the perception and the inconsistencies and variabilities of it all is mainly what I was (perhaps indirectly) referencing.

There is a thread about it that's around 50 pages worth, but it seems like new threads about it still appear, and the same discussion still gets into other threads nonetheless. It's pretty much unavoidable really, given that's how it was in the 8.0 days, and 7.0 days, for example.

It's just getting vey boring seeing it on every thread that going. Think we all know by now some will have it some won't and others couldn't give a dam. It's just a bit of putting when trying to talk about other things it's instantly turned into another long and laborious lag post.

Agreed. That said, it seems like a few people mainly just care about that and naturally bring it up in pretty much any iOS 9 related discussion, especially those related to updates.

Does Maps' direction volume screen respect system text size?
Does the permission summary next to each app in the Location privacy settings respect system text size?
Is the YouTube orientation bug fixed(exploit patched)?
Does the far left app have an icon when you first enter the app switcher?
Does the Settings search still say Settings?

If an app is able to override an OS wide portrait lock setting then this is a bug with the OS. Yes the app can stop exploiting the bug but the OS still has a problem. And the latest YouTube app (10.42) on my iPhone 6 on 9,1 still has the bug.

Music app changes how artwork is displayed and is messed up on some of my library artwork that was perfect (around 500 Albums) that are stored in iTunes match- I also have Apple Music. I admit that I am a nut about the artwork being perfect:cool:.

EDIT: After working with the artwork I was able to fix it all using my standard way of replacing the artwork on my mac in iTunes and updating the iCloud library.
