If an app is able to override an OS wide portrait lock setting then this is a bug with the OS. Yes the app can stop exploiting the bug but the OS still has a problem. And the latest YouTube app (10.42) on my iPhone 6 on 9,1 still has the bug.
With it being pop out video is this not app specific. As when you make any video on YouTube bigger it's always gone like that.

Are we talking about the same thing?

1. Put iPhone in portrait lock
2. Open YouTube, play a video
3. Tap the button to put the video in landscape
4. Enter app switcher.

The OS thinks it is in landscape mode even though portrait lock is still on. It doesn't matter how YouTube decides to display its content internally in its app, it should never be able to change the orientation of the OS outside the app. But it currently is able to.

There is a thread about it that's around 50 pages worth, but it seems like new threads about it still appear, and the same discussion still gets into other threads nonetheless. It's pretty much unavoidable really, given that's how it was in the 8.0 days, and 7.0 days, for example.
Things were better in Forstall's era imo

Yes by design. Whether you agree with it or not is another matter.

Misdesign i'd dare say

It's just getting vey boring seeing it on every thread that going. Think we all know by now some will have it some won't and others couldn't give a dam. It's just a bit of putting when trying to talk about other things it's instantly turned into another long and laborious lag post.

It may be boring to see it in every thread. But so is the same 2-3 people chiming in on every single thread that includes "iOS 9, 9.1, should I update, performance, I ate lunch today at 9" about how disappointed they are about lag and how unusable it is for them and no one should use iOS 9 because of their own dissatisfaction of it.

Don't get what you mean by this.

You said it is boring to see C DM posting in every thread about how people may or may not be bothered by the stutter and so on. I'm saying it's just as boring to see the same few people post the same "omg it's laggy" in every thread.

Unless I read your post wrong.
I read you wrong Lol

I would like to think after the three previous versions having the keyboard (no shortcuts) scroll bug has been resolved in this version ! Currently with no shortcuts on keypad enabled, going on to google search the page does not roll up and you get an obscured search box and cannot see suggestions.
