That video where someone shows the faster frame rate for 3D Touch when reduce transparency on reminds me of the difference between 30fps and 60fps games. If you're not looking out for it and new to it, 30fps is fine, and certainly playable. Then 60fps can have a slightly surreal smoothness to it at first, but when you go back to 30fps it's definitely slightly jarring, even though it's still quite hard to point out what the problem is (and it's still perfectly playable, don't get me wrong). At least that's my experience. If you're able to tweak settings to quickly compare the two in the same game, you'll notice the difference. But 30fps isn't really 'laggy' or 'stuttery'.

[I guess you can also see this on newer iPhones when recording at 30fps vs 60fps, or the Hobbit's 24fps vs 48fps, or smooth motion features on TVs]

So I think some of issues people talk about fall into this category, where there's not sudden stutter (dropping to 1-3fps) or an obvious lag between touch input and UI action, but a general lowering of the framerate which is maybe a bit jittery and not as smooth as you'd hope for.

So this definitely seems like an improvement. I've used my phone more than normal today, and am on pace to get 10% usage per hour, if not better. Usually by 70%, I have just over 2 hours and 10-30 minutes of usage time. I'm almost at 3 hours now.

Too early to be excited, but this is definitely an improvement for me battery-wise on my iPhone 6.

How does this compare to previous betas or ios 9.1 in terms of battery usage, or better still, battery drainage? Lol

My goal on my iPhone 6 and now 6s is to try to get 1 hour per 10%. iOS 9.1 was giving me about 7 hours for 100%, and 9.0.2 was giving me 8 hours for 100%. 9.2B4 is giving me 12+ hours for 100%. Almost 50% improvement. Super excited.

9.1 was the worst for me out of all 9.x.x updates. 9.0.2 was the best until 9.2B3, and now 9.2B4 blows everything out of the water.

can't remember mate. but 7-8 years ago i got a fairly high end CPU (Q9550) and apparently its geekbench mark is 1650 which seems to be around the score of the iPhone A8. I know it's more about the GPU but i can't remember what i had to compare and i'm just trying to get a rough idea of what era of desktop systems iphones are now approximating. what do you reckon?

I can say, with all honesty, that I didn't see a well running computer with Aero until around 2008/2009. I ran it, sure, but that's because I was an idiot that overvalued pretty. It ran like arse.

Hmmm....I'm running a 5s on iOS 9.2 b3. Apparently that doesn't count. Let's not use terms like "every" here. I think the vast majority of users are not seeing any lag. Much of the laggy feature crowd here seems just like the noisy pixel crowd in cameras: "magnify your photo 1000x and, voila, NOISE!!!"
Ofcourse a lot of people aren't seeing it, but that's because they don't notice or don't care. Every iOS 9 5s and 6 has a low frame rate control center.

As someone who just returned my 6p, I still find my iPhone 6s+ significantly more fluid and smooth than the 6p.

You are on the 6S plus which has the most powerful mobile hardware in it.I am on a 6.Theres a difference. The 6S may be smoother than the 6P but the thing is Android performance is more consistent over time while iOS performance while starting out smooth degrades as it receives updates. When I bought the 6 it was significantly smoother than the Galaxy S6 I checked out.Now on iOS 9 ,they are pretty much similar. In fact Tapatalk,WhatsApp,Facebook app on Android do not have scroll stutter while iOS versions do

sigh. I'm not saying people aren't seeing lag or stuttering. They probably are...it's the obsessiveness about it that is ridiculous.

I honestly don't have ANY lag or stuttering. Stop saying I don't, because I could easily call you out and say you aren't seeing any. See how that works? It does NO good. I'm sorry you're having issues with lag and stuttering, but not all of us are.
This is BS.Open Cellular Data in settings.Scroll down the list of apps there.I guarantee you will see stutter. It is impossible for a wide performance variation on the same hardware as I have tried out a clean install

You have zero stuttering my ass. Open a video in the YouTube app, then swipe it down and back up a bit. Lag fest. Same thing doesn't happen under iOS 8 with same app.

My 4.4 Sony e4g cheap phone I have for an MP3 player doesn't stutter that hard, actually it's like on rest of the system, not iOS smooth (pre 9), but Android smooth.

Enough honestly. Stop derailing threads with lag. It's SUBJECTIVE. I see no lag and it doesn't bother me if there was 1/10th second of it.

If you want to get likely get (or keep getting) warnings/banned, we will all just keep reporting this nonsense to the mods until it happens. Start another thread it it bothers some of you so much- actually there already are lag threads to go join.

Last two betas introduced issues with syncing for me. I have sync turned off for music on my 6s but ever since beta 3 every time I add a song, album, or change meta tags iTunes tells me its copying about 75% percent of my collection to my 6s, despite the songs already being on the device. Sometimes it even does it twice. As far as I can tell its not actually copying the music. The first time it happened I ended up losing about half of my album art, and every subsequent time nothing has changed. Anyone else experience anything similar?

Did anyone see if it brought back the feather wallpapers for iPad? Also has the bug been fixed where if you update your apps on iTunes then connect your phone or iPad to your mac and it updates all the apps it leaves the apps saying they need updates on the app store and leaves the badge count?

The update bug has been present since iOS 8. I'm not willing to test to see if it still happen, because it drives me insane that the app is up to date and there is still a badge. I've always just made sure that I update the app on the iPad before syncing or updating it on computer.

Yeah i know; the fact that it has been present so long is annoying. I wonder if it's iTunes or iOS at fault.

What nonsense? "Those that see the lag and stutter" or "those complaining about those that see the lag and stutter but don't see it themselves" or " those that see lag and stutter but complain about those that say they don't see it"?

Part of this thread topic is about performance with the beta, not bickering between who sees and does not see lag

I think a combination. iTunes is updating the app, but not sending the information to the iPad that its an update and only an install, so the iPad doesn't send the signal to app store notifying the app has been updated?

Anyone else notice how the keyboard pops into place when doing a quick reply from the lock screen? It doesn't happen all the time, but it happens most of the time.

Swipe left on a text message from the lock screen and tap Reply. The message field drops down normally from the top, but the keyboard just pops into place with no animation at all.

Near the wifi or lte bar, i notice the spining circle as if something is running and never seemed to go away. Had to do a reboot on the device.

Off topic: what's up with the forum on iPhone? The layout is messed up. Test this before you put it live "developers".

I think the lagging/stuttering topic has been beaten to death. Please move on to other issues related to iOS 9.2 Beta 4. No good will come of the continued back and forth on the lagging discussion and it will only derail this thread further.

I really can't describe how bad I think the scrolling behavior in the app switcher has become. It looks awful.. The smoothness is totally gone, now it kinda jumps between switchercards.. In my opinion it's a big step back..
