For me, 8.4.1 is way smoother than beta 5 on my iPhone 6. The app switcher in beta 5 is smooth but the animation of tapping into app causes dropped frames. Control center is laggy and tapping an app from the home screen has a noticeable delay. Overall I feel like I'm waiting for things to happen more than I am with 8.4.1...things happen much faster on 8.4.1. I'm confident that beta 6/the GM will fix that though and I'm reserving judgement until the final version.

Anyone got this issue on iPhone 6+

On the lockscreen the status bar is almost double height like when an app is not optimised for iPhone.

Back to normal when logged in.

The lock screen status bar has been larger since iOS 7 I believe. (If not, then since iOS 8 for sure.)

They still haven't fixed SpriteKit deciding not to display some sprites randomly :-/
I'll be damned if this bug makes it to the final release.

I never noticed, but don't think it's a bug... it's probably made this way, to be able to distinguish more easily on the lock-screen, and to give apps more room to show content.

And how does this relate to iOS 9 exactly ?

SpriteKit is a framework introduced by Apple in iOS 7 and is used to build 2D games. The SpriteKit framework in iOS 9 has a critical issue since the very first Beta. It needs to be addressed before release, or a lot of games (like my upcoming game) are gonna get bad reviews on iOS 9 launch...

The bug where sprites don't always load correctly happens when developers have included device-specific images in their game. (i.e. the image used on the iPad will be different because the resolution is different and whatnot). Now, device-specific images is an official feature supported and programmed by Apple.

It's unnecessary though. If you want to change the time of the event without changing the length of time, you can just drag the event up with your finger.
Horses for courses. It's been like that I bet since iOS 3 at least.

But if it is a repeated event, dragging using finger would be completely impossible.

This would be tricky if I want to add one more repeat by moving that event one week (if event is repeated weekly) advance.

Not a really big deal, though.

I had to go back to 8.4.1. My favorite app, words with friends freezes. I'll wait for the final or a more polished beta 6.

Thanks for all your great posts!

All of the sudden, my apps won't update anymore. Anyone else having this issue? They download fine but when they try to install, they revert back to the undownloaded state and have to be redownloaded from the update section of the app store. Weird!

Uh that sucks, I have a game myself on the App Store but have not touched the Xcode betas and swift 2 yet. Hopefully they fix that soon.

Yeah, I hope it won't happen for you too, it sucks big time... You should to take a look if you have SKSpriteNodes initialized with "imageNamed" with device-specific images (ex : tree.png will in fact load tree@2x~iphone.png).

Regarding Swift 2, I have just published my new game on the App Store on Monday morning (just waiting for Apple's approval, and then I will publicize it, you guys will know :) ), it was all programmed in Swift 1.2. I have started converting it to Swift 2 Monday afternoon. Surprisingly, I managed to get a perfectly working version of the game by evening! There's a built-in converter that does half of the job.

The issue is related to SpriteKit though, not Swift 2. So even if you compile it for iOS 7 or 8, it doesn't work well. I haven't tried with Objective-C though, but at this point........

Yeah I am using imaged Named sprites.
When you say you upgraded to swift 2 that means you used the betas tho? Where you just playing around with the beta?
I have seen one thing where my game on iPad with iOS 9 can change some characters resolution, maybe that's what You mean. I thought it was just a iOS 9 thing and Xcode/swift not bring upgraded yet.
I would be worried using Xcode 7 and swift 2 while still in beta to upgrade my game, will wait till the GM I think. Hopefully they fix that sprite bug by than.
Thanks for your detailed replies

An off topic question are you using SKActions play sound file with name And does you game use iAds? If so I would love to PM you some questions/tips

Had that yesterday. Reboot and try again. That fixed it for me.
