I would like to see extensions get "extended", though I can't comment on their feasibility.

Like the ability to use safari as an in-app extension (so apps could call on safari as their in-app browser, instead of using the crappy stock webkit browser). As well as the ability to call on an in-app browser in more apps like pages or keynote (perhaps make it an API?)

Or when I tap to add a photo to pages, I can choose to edit it first (currently, I have to hop into the photos app to do this). Maybe it's a ram constraint issue?

Ability to set which apps the control center can use for media. Ie exclude safari and YouTube. I hate getting into my car and hitting play on my stereo only to find I watched a video last on my phone and the control center does nothing

I'd like to see Apple do a massive snow leopard optimisation to iOS, which would allow it to run on A5 Hardware. I'd like to see Apple continue to extend the life of its older products, and if they could improve performance on low end devices in the core OS, it would run fantastically on newer hardware.

1) Extensions for Safari (Adblock!, Ghostery etc.)
2) Quick Reply Api (Whatsapp, Facebook)
3) Split Screen Multitasking
4) Touch ID based guest account (allows private browsing, blocks certain photos/videos albums and apps)
5) ability to add any file to an email
6) better Lightning/HDMI adapter encoding
7) customize Control Center
8) Dark/Night Mode (dark interface, even darker icons, maybe timer based)
9) better iPad UI (nine icons in a folder lol)
10) reduce unused space in NC, Mail etc.
11) make it possible to hide stock apps
12) USB iPad Display Mode (use it as secondary display)
13) Api for lexicon (integrated dictionary etc.)
14) 6Plus cut/paste keyboard for the iPad
15) Option to manually clear App caches for all apps
I love these!! However, with your first suggestion, Safari extensions would need to be handled with extreme care by Apple. I don't want to see those stupid browser-hijacking pieces of adware from Windows appear in iOS.

2. Quick Reply API for third parties is another biggie, I actually made a post on the previous page that mentioned that haha.

8. Dark/Night Mode is another thing I would love to see. The dark keyboard looks incredible in my opinion, as well as the dark blurred background in Safari Tab view, iBooks (when you cover the ambient light sensor), the dark UI in private browsing on Safari, etc. iOS could heavily benefit in the UI design department with a dark mode. It would also make sense to add Dark Mode in OS X Yosemite *and* iOS.

9. iPad does definitely need some killer features, some "distinguishability". Things that would make people need an iPad over an iPhone. I think the reason iPad sales are suffering is because it's simply too similar to iPhone. People can perfectly easily get by with just an iPhone.

14. I'd love to see those buttons make their way onto iPad as well. Not sure how it would be implemented though, because the iPad keyboard is designed to be more of a standard computer keyboard, kind of like where it's at. With a couple of the tools seen in the landscape iPhone 6/6+ keyboard, it could be a lot better. Reaching up and long pressing to select, copy, and paste, is a little irritating at times.

15. THIS NEEDS TO HAPPEN. The dreaded "Other" space is seriously getting on my nerves. I don't want to have to keep reinstalling apps/restoring my devices to get rid of it.

iOS 7 unveiled a completely new "white theme". While I do like it a lot, I'd love to have the option of a "black / dark theme".

I think the darker stock keyboard you get is so slick (such as when typing in your password into the AppStore).
Completely agree. The translucency of the UI in places is so beautiful when it's dark. Would make sense for Apple to add Dark Mode into iOS so people can match their macs/iDevices :p

Couldn't say it any better. My one year old iPad mini 2 feels like it's 3 years old. The at the time 3 year old iPad 2 on iOS 7.1.2 was smoother in every UI aspect than my current 1 year old iPad mini 2 on iOS 8.1.2. Really sad to see this happen. I dread to see what iOS 9 will be like if it isn't *mainly* a massive "Snow Leapard" build.

The ability to set ringer volume per contact. I'm tired of my not hearing my calls cause the volume is low.

Battery life and performance improvements would be nice. I'm all set with features
I'm somewhat with you on this... I'd like to see more of the same features. For example, expand on the 3rd party keyboards - let them have the dictation button - more sharing extensions / capabilities, etc.

But yeah... I'd love it to be even faster... more stable... less bugs... better battery.

I dunno - the way Apple does things, if and when they do implement a feature, it's something they are going to want you to leave on by default and use as much as possible. They are not just going to waste time and resources on an "optional" feature that most people are just going to leave off.

Actually, to that end... Siri. I can turn her off completely. Give me a toggle for hey, Siri, and I'm golden.

We should all get together and send apple a suggestion for a split keyboard for the plus.

you know you can set it up so Siri activated when you bring the phone to your ear, right?

it's called going into Airplane Mode until the message times out.

Although that is a solution, it takes ages for me, and even after a restart it sends. I could do this on my Moto G with stock android messages app

Be able to delete Apple apps that I don't want or won't use, like iBooks or tips for example.

Cleared Notification sync. When I clear a notification on one device, it should clear on all. This actually is a feature that worked in iOS 7 beta but they pulled it.

Do Not Disturb that works with Calendar. Basically it can turn on based on your calendar appointments and maybe an option to mark certain events DnD.

Customizable Dynamic wallpapers. The default moving bubbles are nice but it would be nicer if I could choose colors of the background and bubbles.

Text input mode for Siri.

Skype built-in to default keyboard

Siri "conversation mode" - that is, start an ongoing session with Siri where you don't have to preface each command by touching the Home button or saying "Hey, Siri".

In such a mode, Siri would continue listening and responding until you dismiss it ("Goodbye, Siri" or hitting the Home button) or until a certain time period has elapsed without interaction.

Different profiles on iPad!

I hate when my kid has deleted apps, moved them around etc.

Close all tabs with one click in safari.

1)Modes

Office mode
Outdoor mode
Meeting mode
etc...

Different volumes, ringers, buzzers, etc for each mode.
"Siri, enable Office mode."

2) Allow texts from VIPS to come thru during Do Not Disturb, like phone calls. Or an option slider to allow them.

3) Allow better granularity for DND. Weekday/weekend, etc.

How about an option in Calendar to enable DND during a specific event? I am a college student and I have all my classes in my calendar. I would love to have DND automatically enabled during those events.

With all that screen real estate on the home screen, especially on the 6+, it needs to have more than just icons. I'd love to be able to use widgets.

  1. Stability.
iOS 8 (and 7) have been unreasonably buggy for most people. I’d be happy if iOS 9 was a “Snow Leopard” type release, with no (or few) user-facing features, and just focused on stability.
  2. Stock Apps on the App Store.
Unnecessary apps like Weather, Stocks, Voice Memos, Podcasts etc. would be installed on the device by default (like the iLife apps are already, on devices with more storage), but able to be uninstalled and redownloaded from the App Store. Other stock apps (such as Safari) should be updated via the App Store, but not be allowed to be uninstalled. That would mean that these apps could be updated without needing a full OS update.
  3. App Defaults
Allow the user to set default apps for Camera, Browser, and Email.
  4. Control Center Customization
Allow the user to change the four app shortcuts at the bottom of Control Center.
  5. Siri API for Developers
Expand the extensibility APIs to allow Siri to perform simple tasks using third party apps.
  6. San Francisco as the System Font
I don’t think Helvetica Neue works as the system font. I’d like to see either San Francisco (the Apple Watch typeface), or another Humanist typeface (Avenir, Myriad) as the system font.
  7. Taller folders
It makes no sense that, on an iPhone 6/6 Plus, that folders are only a 3x3 grid, with there’s huge amounts of space above and below the folder.
  8. Password Field Extension
Add a new extension type to extensibility, that adds an Extension Button to all password fields, allowing services like 1Password to work without stupid hacks.
  9. ApplePay in the UK
  10. iTunes Radio in the UK
  11. AppleTV App Store
AppleTV does run iOS after all, so it counts as part of the iOS 9 wishlist, right?

Actual widgets on the home screen and lock screen would be nice. But mostly. Get rid of the slow movement when unlocking or swiping from screen to screen. Just make it snappy fast. I don't need it to look cool and by cool i mean not cool using slow gestures.
