ability to do could restore but choose between apps and system settings
ie, restore sms only

* Ability to change default apps. I want the freedom to use directions on Google maps instead of Apple Maps or use Opera instead of Safari, etc.

* Ability to use 3rd party keyboards for entering passwords. This is my own privacy and I should be the one deciding whether to allow it or not.

* Apple should also work more with devs like whatsapp to make sure they have all the tools they need to improve their apps. I can't believe whatsapp launched their web client on Android, BBM, and windows phone but not on iOS.

a whole new interface that isn't so bright and cartoonish. all the whites on every single app need to go. sms customization would be nice especially the color in general. white and grey are boring and ugly. maybe a light, dark, and midnight theme would be cool

-Widget on the lock screen that displays simple things such as weather, alarms etc... I know notification centre has it but I feel it could be better

One thing I hate. My iPad Air is slow and laggy since iOS 8. It's just not fair apple. I spend $700 on a tablet and one year later it is not capable of running your mobile OS correctly.

I also hate how it takes 5 or 6 releases of iOS to finally make it stable. It's like half of the year we run a solid and stable OS. But then October onwards is just bugs and lag until March or so.

Get it right from day 1, or don't release.

zoomed display option on iPhone 6 plus should be much zoomed....the zoomed options on the iPhone 6 makes the icons look bigger than the iPhone 6 plus icons when zoomed.

1.) better Do Not Disturb- mute charge sound and vibration
2.) app cache clearer in "usage"
3.) set pass code/fingerprint lock to individual apps
4.) banner notifications for low power (20%/10%)
5.) better app switching on iphone via gestures, forget about viewing apps split screen on phones.
6.) less dependence on iTunes/computers (for adding ringtones, subscribing to iTunes Match, etc.)

1. More tablet specific App designs for the iPad
2. Up Next in music.
3. Smart playlists in music (Like in iTunes).
4. Do not disturb scheduling and geofencing
5. A big focus on performance & less bugs.
6. iCloud drive improvements: Download and upload to safari, attachments in Mail, save to icloud drive from mail etc.
7 Handoff Workbags: Transfer multiple open apps at once between devices (Like your whole workspace (Song playing, Documents open, tabs open etc).
8. SUPORT FOR A5 DEVICES :D
9. Customisable control centre
10. A simplified (and semi customisable) mode for simplifying the iPad for seniors or for young children.
11. Did I mention performance improvements and less bugs?? ;)

Yes yes yes! Especially 5, 9, 10 and 11!!

Round Icons

Round icons and organic home screen layout to match the watch. I’m so over the frickin icon grid.

I doubt they are reading this, but Apple engineers if you are listening please, if you only do one thing this year for iOS, fix it! There will never be anything as bug-free software but iOS at this point in it's life needs a good restructuring. There have been so many bugs and broken features that worked in 7 that need fixing.

That is all I ask for. Don't focus on new features, leave those until iOS 10. Right now iOS needs an under-the-hood tuneup more then anything else.

the OPTION to "hey siri" without being plugged in. Give me a warning box about battery life if need be, but I REALLY want to be able to just pull out my iphone and "hey siri".

Lift the iphone to your ear and speak and Siri will listen. If you're already pulling out your iPhone pull it to your ear. It's a matter of habit that's all.

EDIT: Apparently and very unfortunately, raise to speak is gone in ios8. What a terrible move. Bring it back in iOS 9!

Fix the bugs _before_shipping.

Most people know Apple is highly skilled and capable.

The question becomes... Do they care?

I'd like to think they do, only time will tell.

Wow. Mega dittos to many of these. It's really a bunch of little things that add up. Safari still has its share of aggravating things. The email app needs an easy way to delete a bunch of emails at once and a way to do real attachments.

Overall, the latest iOS has been running great on my Air. They ought to make iOS 9 more of a big fix release rather than cramming a bunch of new fluff features that end up not mattering as much as we think they do.

Outdoor mode - I want to keep the GPS enabled while in airplane mode. Just like how wifi can be reactivated independently.

Most of my GPS usage is in backcountry with offline topo maps where there is no signal.

I'm somewhat with you on this... I'd like to see more of the same features. For example, expand on the 3rd party keyboards - let them have the dictation button - more sharing extensions / capabilities, etc.

But yeah... I'd love it to be even faster... more stable... less bugs... better battery.

Oh, and I would also like iOS to change the way it looks again. I'm bored since iOS 7. And PLEASE get rid of the parallax effect? Really really dumb and annoying

1- iCloud keychain to connect apps to it's websites.
2- Interactive app icons, like the stock calendar app. it'll be GOOD with weather apps, Reeder, countdowns and many other things....
3- Make other apps access the Notes on my device like some have the ability to access reminders and calendars.... I love how Notes sync across devices, but I hate it's ui, Notefile looks better but it syncs really slow and sometimes it just don't.
4- make spotlight access apps as well, for instance if I'm searching a note on Notefile, I'll have to conduct my search from within the app.
5- DARK MODE
6- Lockscreen widgets
7- let apps keep running in background ALL THE TIME, like clipboard apps.....
8- iCloud drive app
9- SMS delivery report
10- Adding the ability to customise the control centre selection of toggles and apps shortcuts
